Royal Hungarian Ministry for Foreign Affairs. No 7280/1—1929. Decree concerning the regulation of the gala-uniforms of the Royal Hungarian honorary Consular officials. In conformity with international customs I herewith give permission to the Royal Hun­garian honorary Consular officers to wear at ceremonies, official or festive occasions, gala­uniforms as described below. I. The gala-uniform. 1. The dress-coat. This is made of dark-green, (so-called State-green) cloth. Its cut is conform to the international custom, with a high collar, on the back-fold with straight-cut borders and with two double-rounded pocket-covers on the waist-fold. The facings of the collar and of the sleeves are of cherry-red velvet. On the front of the dress-coat there are nine great gold buttons on which the coat-of-arms of Hungary with the crown is visible (see fig. 5/a). Two of these buttons are on the back of the waist. The dress-coat is embroidered in gold at the collar, at the facings of the sleeves and on the pocket-covers conform to the enclosed designs 1 and 2 and varying according to the rank. The dress-coat of the honorary Consul Generals is embroidered on its breast accor­ding to the design shown in fig. 1. The dress-coat has to be worn usually buttoned up, with a stiff, white shirt-collar, half covered by a black ribbon, as it is gene­rally used with military uniforms. According to local conditions it may be worn also open, but in this case with a white waistcoat, a white, stiff shirt-collar and a white butter­fly-tie. 2. The waistcoat. The waistcoat is made of the same material as the dress-coat or else of white cashmere, with four small gold buttons, showing the coat-of-arms with the crown. (See fig. 5/b.). 3. The trousers. The trousers are made of the same material as the dress-coat. Along the sides there are gold galloons conform to the enclosed figures and varying according to the rank. On the trouseres of the honorary Vice-Consuls there is a 7 cm wide galloon; on those of honorary Consuls there are two and on the trousers of Consul Generals three of these galloons. (See fig. 4/a, b, c.) 4. The hat. The hat is made of black silk-felt and has the form of the so-called two-cornered hat. According to the enclosed fig. 7, it consists of a round crown and two upturned brims. The height of the crown is about 11 cm at an average ; the right upturned brim is of 14"5 cm, while that on the left 16 cm and the parf in front and behind, which is not turned up, shows a breadth of 6*5 cm with somewhat bent corners. The brim of the hat of honorary Consul Generals and Consuls is embroidered in gold according to fig. 7/a and b. The brim of the hat of honorary Vice­Consuls and of other honorary Consular officials is edged with a 3'5 cm wide black moirée silk ribbon in a way that 3 cm of its width should be visible on the outside of the brim. (See fig. 7/c.). In the centre of the right brim there is a cockade showing the national colours made in a way that the red colour should be farthest from the centre and the green colour in the centre. Above the cockade there is a hat-tassel, equal for all degrees, fastened by a great golden button showing the coat-of-arms with the crown and consisting of six rows of gold tufts of which the two central streaks are interlaced. In the two corners of the hat there are rosettes made of gold lace. The upper brim of the hat of honorary Consul Generals is trimmed with black ostrich­feathers. 5. The sword. The sword is long, straight, contained in a black sheath with gold mountings. The handle is of nacre with a basket-hilt showing the coat-of-arms with the crown, according to fig. 5/c and d attached to this description. The sword has to be worn without a sword-knot. 6. The sword-belt. The sword-belt consists of a sabretache covered with dark-green cloth, moreover of a belt which is sown to the sabretache and which has to be worn "en bandouliére" under the waistcoat. (See fig. 6/b.) 7. The gloves. The gloves are of white leather.
