July 10, 1964 6 Cardinal Agagianian Thanks Diocese for Aid to Missions The generous contribution of the faithful of the Diocese of Trenton to the missions last year is acknowledged in a letter to Bishop George W. Ahr from the Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. Gregory Peter XV Cardinal Agagianian in the communication expresses his thanks-*-----------------------------------St Francis To Graduate 87 Nurses Graduation exercises for the last of the three-year students of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Trenton, will be held July 12 at 3 p.m. in St. Mary’s Cathedral. Bishop George W. Ahr will confer diplomas on 87 nursing school graduates, including three Medical Mission Sisters; eight from the School of Medical Technology, and seven from the School of X-ray Technology. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Emmett A. Monahan, pastor of St. James Church, Red Bank, and diocesan director of the Society for the Progagation of the Faith, will be preacher. The first graduation for the students in the new 27-month nursing course will be held in the Fall, Sister Marian Therese, O.S.F., director of the School of Nursing, announced. There are 51 students in the initial class. MOUNT CARMEL GUILD REPORT—Bishop George W. Carmel Guild Workers Honored The executive board of the Trenton Mount Carmel Guild feted the parish chairmen and workers in the 1964 membership campaign at a buffet supper held outdoors Monday evening at the guild headquarters, 73 North Clinton Avenue. Bishop George W. Ahr, a strong supporter of the welfare agency, was the guest of honor, and had words of encouragement for the chairmen and members. Present, too, was Very Rev. Msgr. Theodore A. Opdenaker, executive director of tUe Catholic Welfare Bureau and guild moderator. He and Miss Mary Agnes Jennings, guild president, lauded the efforts of Mrs. Harold B. Carey, drive chairman, and her workers. Mrs. Carey reported these parishes had exceeded their 1963 totals in helping to enroll more than 12,700 members: Immaculate Conception, St. Anthony’s, St. Joachim’s, Blessed Sacrament, Holy Angels, St. Basil’s, St. Mary of the Assumption, St. Raphael’s, St. Stanislaus and St. Stephen’s. Bennett, president of Union Theological Seihinary, New York, and Protestant theologian and ecumenist; Dr. Richard Shaull, Presbyterian minister and professor of ecumenics at Princeton Theological Seminary, and James Farmer, national director of the Congress for Racial Equality (CORE). Also Dr. Joseph English, chief psychiatrist for the Peace Corps; Fr. J. Quintin Lauer, S.J., of Fordham University’s philosophy department; Fr.
