József immár évek óta aktiv részt vesz a magyar mozgalmakban és minden remény meg van arra, hogy az Amerikai Vörös Kereszt mozgalma Lóth Józseffel az élén ezúttal is a legszebb eredményei fog véget érni magyar véreink segélyezésére. Az Amerikaai Vörös Kereszt helyi fiókja az alanti cikk közlésére kért fel bennünket: Announcement has been made by C. Brewster Grace Jr. Chairman of the Trenton Chapter, American R-ecMT-ross of the appointment of Mr. Joseph S. Loth as chairman of the Red Cross Emergency Relief for Hungary. Mr. Loth, owner of the Loth Linoleum Floor Company is past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and now acting as its secretary. He is past president of the American Hungarian Civic Association and past president of the Hungarian Home, Genesee and Hudson St. In accepting the appointment Mr. Loth points out that while Hungarian refugees who are in the United States are being well taken care of there are still hundreds of thousands left in Hungary and Austria who are in urgent need. The League of Red Cross Societies has assumed responsibility for full care of 20,000 Hungarians refugees who will be housed in ! 0 camps which were opened December 1. This number will be increased beginning January 1 to 25,000.” Mr. Loth said — “The League operation will be staffed through National Red Cross Societies providing teams of relief and welfare specialists. Already the American, Austrian, British, Danish, French, German Federal Republic and Swedish Societies have offered teams, either from among personnel already in Austria at present, or enroute there. “Under the present arrangement with the Austrian government, the league is to provide food supplies, clothing, comfort articles, and camp equipment, together with medical and nursing care. For this purpose, Red Cross supplies contributed and continuing to flow to Vienna from all parts of the world, will be placed in a common pool and allocated from there as necessary. All funds will be utilized only for assistance to Hungarian refugees and the Hungarian people. “Having my relatives still living in Hungary I remember from visits there,“ Said Mr. Loth, how bitter cold the winters are. I urge everyone in our community to contribute now — this very hour — to this humanitarian operation of the Red Cross.” The Trenton Chapter s quota is $9,202 of the National Organizations $5,000,000 appeal.
