"When my father came ■back from Philadelphia and displayed the Ford car in front of his store, local interest was so great that he made ar­rangements to sell cars for John Wanamaker. As he. got acquainted with the new automobile, which was taken -seriously by few at that time, he came to realize the im­mense possibilities in the auto­mobile business. In the sum­mer of 1904, he took an agency direct from the Ford Motor Co., as an added department to his general store. The next few -years bore out my father's idea feat the automobile was to become an accepted form of ■'iransportation." "This was the past. The be­ginning of an era when the appearance of automobiles -changed the face of the land— -'brought cities, states—close to each other, created employ­ment for millions; the auto­mobile—and the most typical car, the Ford—Ipecome a by­word not only in the USA but all over the world. Mr. W. E. Mount was a trail blazer among the Ford distri­butors and dealers, building Isis business with an immense .faith in the Ford product and on principles of good service -and honesty. We could say that it is the newest, most modem, high-compression "eight" in the industry. "The styling is excellent. We j are featuring a new grill and j the interior design is really much nicer. Although this year ! we give much more, the prices j are the same. This means that i our customers get more value ' for *heir dollars. We asked Mr. Mount about 1 the prospects of the automobile business in the new year. "I am happy to say that the j year started well for us and | ;he prospects ar© excellent. | The people really like our car , —they are very enthusiastic j about it. We have great con- ; fidence in the future of our j company which was a trail- j b’azer in the automobile in- | dur try—" j Mr. Mount talked to us for j a while—not only about auto- j mobiles, which are his profes- j sion, but about people and : conditions. He firmly believes , hat 1954—the year of the fit- , tieth anniversary of his agency will be a glorious year not j only in sales, but generally, j for the U.S. We asked Mr. Mount whether j his company has any used , cars. "Yes we have a large used j car lot in Highland Park—at j 103 Woodbridge Ave. It is j managed by the very able Mr. A1 Quinn, (who Is in charge.) J We have a large selection ' there—good used cars in ex- j cellent condition, very reason- ; ably priced. In fact I think . that the people who are look- •! ing for used cars now could j get a very good buy. The j prices are right and we can ' arrange two years to pay for ' used cars—while new cars can be purchased to be paid fór in 3 years. We like to ac­commodate our customers—on their own terms—those which suit, them best." It was an inspiring and very satisfactory interview with Mr. Joseph B.
