There is no such medium today. The Forum for Contemporary History was formed to fill this void. It is a non-partisan organization, entirely independent of outside affiliations. For its support it will depend on membership dues and sales of its publications. I’ve spoken of a new medium. Actually, it is ages old. But it has rarely, if ever, been used for the broad dissemination of opinion and comment. Because it makes possible direct, unfiltered, person-toperson contact—independent even of the relatively limited pressures and restrictions of conventional news and information media—the Forum believes that personal communication can become an extremely important medium 30 I
