IHLET Van néha úgy, hogy rámszakad A lélek 9 mintha fergeteg Rázná meg alvó testemet. Fölszáll a köd, a törne lét Recsegve tágul szerteszét, S kibontom örök szárnyamat. I am asking you to participate in an organization which will dedicate itself actively to preserving . . . the letter and spirit of the freedom of expression guaranteed in the First Amendment. We will accomplish this by creating a. totally new opportun! tv for the free expression of thoughts, ideas and opinions. A new medium through which people with significant things to say can say them. There is no such medium today. The Forum for Contemporary History was formed to fill this void. It is a non-partisan organization, entirely independent of outside affiliations. For its support it will depend on membership dues and sales of its publications. I’ve spoken of a new medium. Actually, it is ages old. But it has rarely, if ever, been used for the broad dissemination of opinion and comment. It consists of nersona 1 '1 etters--uned ited f uncensored letters to you and other Forum members from those who are making contemporary history. Because it makes possible direct, unfiltered, person-toperson contact—independent even of the relatively limited pressures and restrictions of conventional news and information media—the Forum believes that personal communication can become an extremely important medium 30 I
