HCHP I.-,15,-TIt 1.1953, Yol,X/l-2 9 9 In the end he lengthily and in detail made known - relying upon the seniors* reports - the life of the seniorates and congregations. „ * # $ The account -to which several of the constituent members and guests contributed - met with general-acceptance at the general assembly. It thanked the bishop for his untiring service in its x*esolution and expressed its loyalty and trust the same time. EXCERPTS OP BISHOP DR. K.H. TBIG’S CONTRIBUTION AT THE GI1TERAL ASSaffiLT OP THE TRMSDBfUBIAN CHURCH DISTRICT The Chinese Protestant Church Delegation took-pert in the General Assembly of the Transdanubien Church District. Di'. K.H. Ting ha.ving listened to the bishop’s report saluted the presidium of the district and the assembly. He said among others: In October of the last year (1956) our Chinese people - the Christians included; too - was very sorry hearing the events what had happened in Hungary,; I mention as characteristic that in those hard days I was going to go to a cinema together with the students of the Nanking Theological Seminary with tickets in the hand but having heard of the events in Hungary they were not able to amuse themselves, 'When the things took their normal oourse on a conference for church leaders we gave thanks far God’s providence standing up. The name af Budapest and Hungary «.oes not only mean for us as that of any other foreign town or country for our anxieties and joys ore strictly bound to the name of our brethren’s country and capital*- As for as we see of the delivered report the church had to carry on a hafd battle against those who exerted counter-revoluticnary endeavours under the auspices of the church. People like those were also in our church in China, Those people were characterized not by the love to the church but the hatred against socialism only.- All endeavours which you build up socialism and progress with, meet the fellow-feeling of 700 thousand Chinese Protestants. This number might seem very tiny comparing with t'jie total number of inhabitants of People’s China - but I daresay that the entire Chinese peqpLe stand by the cause at socialism and back your people with a good heart* One must not forget tliat there are many hundred millions of people besides China that had already taken the side ctf the progress, In contradiction to that, what ddes New York, London ard Geneva represent ? In point of fact a tiny grouping of men who run their country though but lost the real aim of the human life.- We and our Chinese brethren are very grateful for all the demonstration you do in favour of our Chinese people, I think here of the resolution passed on for instance on your peace rally cl .aiming admittance to the United Nations Organ!sation for our people. The chief point of refusing China is that the United States of America have not yet recognized keople’s China. Nevertheless, we have a lot of friends ard do not feel alone. By the fact that the United States of America refuse to recognize People’s China they hide, as a matter of fact, their unsuccess in aiming to conquer the world.
