A vasárnapi ebédet magyar zene hallgatása közben fogyaszthat­juk el a brunswicki rádió-állo­más, illetve a Kára-zenekar és Chonka Pista jóvoltából. Kik és mikor jogo­sultak a társadalmi biztosítási nyug­díjra Tudja-e, hogyan számítják ki i járandóságát az aggkori és az elhunytak utáni biztosítási tör­vény alapján? Tudja-e, kik kap­nak nyugdijat, vagy elhunyt itáni segélyt? Ezek azok a kérdések, melyek­re a feleleteket a Social Security iroda közli a következőkben: . A járandóságot elsősorban a munkás átlagos havi keresete a­­lapján számítják. Javára szá­mítják az összes bér fejében ka­pott fizetéseket, melyet mint al­kalmazott kapott a munkaadó­tól, egészen évi 3,000 dollárig. A Social Security Administra­tion minden alkalmazásban lé­vő munkásról, annak neve és társadalmi biztosítási száma alatt, nyilvántartást vezet. A- mikor a munkás vagy annak családja igényt jelent be nyug­díjra, az az összeg, amit a tár­sadalmi biztosítási hivatalban keresetéről nyilvántartanak, ha­tározza meg a járandóságának összegét. Nyugdijat kaphat: a biztosí­tott bérmunkás, amikor 65 éves vagy annál idősebb és nem dol­gozik; felesége, amikor 65 éves lesz és eltartásra szoruló gyer­mekei, ha 18 éven alul vannak. Havi segélyt kapnak az el­hunyt után: gyermekek 18 éven alul; özvegyasszonyok gyerme­kekkel, akik az asszony gond­jaira vannak utalva s a gyerme­kek 18 éven alul vannak; ez esetben nem számit, hogy az öz­vegyasszony hány éves; özvegy­asszonyok ha 65 évesek vagy a­­zon felüli életkoruak, tekintet nélkül arra, hogy vannak-e gyer­mekeik, akik az ő gondozása a­­alatt vannak; az elhunyt idős szülei — ha a munkás sem öz­vegyet, sem gyermeket nem ha­gyott hátra, akik igényt tá­maszthatnának havi nyugdíjra vagy segélyre a munkás keresete alapján és ha a munkás volt szü­leinek főtámoagtója az elhunyta idején. Az öregkori nyugdij-jogosult­­ság legelső és legfontosabb fel­tétele az, hogy a kérvényező­nek legkevesebb 20 negyedévi munka utáni befizetése legyen és ez az illetőnek a S.S. hivatal­ban nyilvántartatott kártyájára be legyen vezetve. A negyedé­vek csakis jan.-feb.-már., vagy ápr.-máj.-jun. stb. lehetnek. Például már.-ápr.-május nem számit egy negyed évnek.)
