Abstract: In 2004 the Upper Tisa Foundation and the Upper-Tisa Authority on Environmental Protection, Nature Protection and Water Resorces together with the Ukrainian Transcarpathian Agency for Environmental Protection and Natural Resorces participated in a program called Hungarian-Ukrainian project for the Tisa. Part of this project was the investigation of phytoplankton. We took samples three times from 20 places, which were situated on the Tisa and its tributaries. The samples came to be analysed for quantity and quality, too.Every sample was characterized by dominancy of Diatoms as by the total amount as well by presence. We identified 122 taxa totally. We didn't idcntify any unexpected, foreign taxon, but most of taxa weren't euplanctonic but rather tichoplanctonic drifters from the phytotecton. Also these taxa could be characteristic and dominant in the samples eg. Achnanlhes lanceolata or A minutissima. Different indexes like saprobity and diversity showed that phytoplankton of this region was depending on the local character of the sampling place and how it is geographically situated. The similar results were given on base of cluster-analyses (furthest neighbour by Jaccard) and analyses of trofity on base of total number of algae.
