Between 1974 and 1976 he was a rcscarch scholar ai tlic International histitute for Applied Systems Analysh IIIASAI in Laxcnburg, Austria firstly. working on the water project and hitcr in tlic ficld of cnvironmental rcscarch. His main rcscarch ficlds arc tinié series analysis and real-timc forecasting and control of water rcsources systems using rccursivc algorithnis. During the coursc of his carccr he has travcllcd extcnsively and has worked in scvcral different countrics: for a sliort period with IBM in Italy; in 1981. as a visiting pro fasor ai tlic Univcrsity of Lu Ica in Sweden; inul in 1983 and 1984 as a leciurer on coniputcrizcd liydrologicnl forecasting ai tlic Asian Institute of Technology. Bangkok. He leciured rcgularly on hydrological modelling ai tlie Unesco-sponsored post-graduaic courses in Budapest and Belgrádé and alsó tauglit siatistical hydrology at lile Eotvos Loránd Univcrsity. Between 1985 and 1989 hc was a rcgular visiting rcscarch professor at the Systems Department of ihc Univcrsity of Waterloo in Canada. From 1985 until he jomed Uncsco hc lield the post of Dcputy Director General at the W'atcr Rcsources Rcscarch Center (VITUKI I in Budapest. Between 19S6 and 1989 he was Editor of the International Journal of Stochasiic Hydrology and Hydraulics ISpringer). Editor-in-Chicf of the Hidrologiai Közlöny and served on the cditorial boards of Vizugyi Kozlemcyek and Water Rcsources Management iRcidcl). He was alsó a member of tlic International Associaiion of Hydrological Scicnccs (lAHSl. International Association for Hydraulic Research <lAHRl. International Fcdcraiion of Information Processing (IFIP) and was Vicc-Presidcnt of ICSWIIAHS, Chairman of the Hungárián IAHS Conimittce, Chairman of the Hungárián WMOIHOMS Saaonal Refercnce Center.
