22 - 25 July Thursday through Sunday EGER FEAST OF THE FORTRESS Historical tournament in the Fortress of Eger With the help of characters dressed in period costume, and military games performed according to period choreography, the spectacular programmes recall the atmosphere of Medieval fortresses. On the opening day participants and the audience accompanying them will walk to the castle district, through the historic inner city. The daily programmes of the four-day festival within the castle area: • Military tournament, attire from the chivalric age, Medieval military services • Medieval court dances performed in period attire • Ensembles and performers playing historical music: Hungarian Renais­sance, Baroque, and other nations' music from the same periods (e.g. Irish harp) • Theatre groups reviving the traditions of Medieval market-place theatre performances and comedies, puppet treatres, giant puppets • Historic archery competition and tournaments, with audience participation • Wall-climbing competition on Dobó Bastion, with the participation of professional and amateur rock-climbers • Artisans' fair, exhibition of traditional crafts.
