There was a bath in Eger as early as in the 15th century. Cartesian monks had a bath-house built over the thermal spring, where they could bathe in wooden bath tubs, but also the steam bath was popular. During the Muslim occupation the Turks appreciated the ilijas and caplijas (Turkish baths), where they could refresh their body and their mind, as well. After the Turks had left the Eger medicinal cure only became popular in the middle of the 19th century. 4
