tourist History H ere we ran (ind the museum of the town's history - the István Dobó Castle Museum. It consists of the prison exhibition, the wax-works show, the mint ond the Eger Art Gallery with pointings of the 16-18th century Europe. Die 40 meter high Minaret (17 Knézich) with its 93 steps is the northernmost Turkish construction in Europe. The exceptionally nice minorite St Anthony of Padua Church hos the following motto on its keystone: 'Everything worths for God'. The pedestrian precinct of the town is the Széchenyi Street with atmospheric restaurants, pubs and sweet-shops with balconies. The Greek Orthodox Church (Vitkovics 30) has a fine iconostas from 1789. The Turkish Hath (1 Fürdő) is a remnant of the special both culture of the Turkish occupation (1596-1686). The Strandfürdő (2 Petőfi Square) with 7 pools is open throughout the year with its medicinal water being recommended for locomotor diseases. Eger is also the town of fiery red wines: you can taste the world famous Eger Bikavér (Bull's Blood) in one of the hundreds of years old carved cellars of the Szépasszonyvölgy (Beautiful Woman's Volley).
