The strictly ordered, rational and mechanical formal arrangement of the parallelly running lines dissolves in lyrically delicate colours on the fine unglazed surface of the paper. In the nodes where the blue and green lines reach the highest density they turn into some orangeish red or carmine through some tender transition. It was this strange contrast between the strict, rational structure of the lines in the design and its lyrically fine colours that gave the artist an inspiration. Her fantasy however, was struck not only by the "picture producing" capacity of the machine and the appeal of the product, but also by the dry fact that these beautifully colourful 'drawings., the "found objects", reveal the drama of the cells, the stages of the deterioration of the "tenement of clay" in lyrically fine, rich line structures, virtually soothing, attractive pictures. It was this embarassing duality and the almost absurd discrepancy that inspired several of Ibolya Paparó.s pictures. She used the "found object" as a basic tissue to be developed further in her world. Quite often she, by merely putting emphasis on the structures of the machine-made diagrams, considered their colours as a starting point. It is these colours that are elaborated in the pictures by the artist. At the beginning she mainly stressed some narrative motives, human figures, vegetal textures in the basic tissue of the picture, but her composition became simpler fairly
