WHITSUN KING­MAKING Accommodation by authentic folk music and folk dances the traditional folk game „Whitsun king-making" is perfor­med. The show is staged on the clearing near the Nyer­ges Presszó (expresso bar) in an authentic setting which reflects the athmosphere of the past. Characters: the people of the puszta, the jugde of the puszta, dancers, musicians and recruting hussars, who recreate a true traditional folk story dating back to about 200 years. A rich, bored nobleman push his shepherds to a hard test. The first is to lay the horses down and saddle them fast. The second is cracing the whip and hitting a jug from a tree. After the third test most skilful and strongest horse­man is awared the red shawl and becomes the proud be­arer of the title „Whitsun King". This big event is followed by big merry-making and celebrations, naturally, at the nobleman'expense. You can enjoy the special performance of the horseman and the dancers. Recommended time: 18.00 hrs. If requested, the show can be organized at other times, too. Participation fee: 23 DM KILLING (for groups, at least 25 persons) The guest arrive at the tavern. The pig will be killed and burnt with staw there. During the burning the guests are being offered with some spirits. Breakfast: Blood-stew or roasted sousage with pickle Me­anwhile the butchers work up the pig, the guests go for sightseeing in Eger. Returning to the tavern. The lunch will be waiting for them. Lunch: Spare-rib soup (Soup cooked from the spare-rib of the pig) Roasted white and black pudding, sousage whith steamed sabbage, roasted pork with potato, pie, mineral water, boiled wine, coffee. Available: from November to February Participation fee: 30 DM V _________________________________________/ T HE VINUM AGRIENSE ORDER OF KNIGHTHOOD For guests who want to be the member of this Order. Those may become members of the Order, who after passing the test and proving their knowledge of vini- and witiculture lay down their irrevocable oath. The Censural Vini Facere proceed as a follows: five glasses are to be found on the table. In each one a wellknown wine from Eger has been poured. The task of the Candidate is to put the wines into on order according to their sweetness and dryness, starting with the direst wine and ending with the sweettest one using their wine tasting skills. If the Candi­dates succesful in placing the five glasses in the correct order, they passed the Test. Then the Chief Initator knight the Candidates. They have to lay down their oath. The new knights get honorary diploma, a bottle of wine and an embelishment chain. The spectators raise a toast to the health of the new member. During the program there is renascence music. Participation fee: 34 DM ____________________________J PLUCKIN G OF FEATHERS IN WINTER (for groups, at least 25 persons) In Mikófalva, as in every ancient settlement, the main pastime in winter was the plucking of feathers and spin­ning. The women made the trausseau ready for the marri­ageable girls on these winter evenings. The folklore ensemble of Mikófalva recall this old tradition is their per­formance. As it was tradition in the past the girls and women are plucking the feathers in the house around the table and singing. They lead the arriving guests to the table and of­fer them plain cake and spirits. During this the girls are dancing. The great story teller of the village, on old wo­man tell true stories. The stories are revening in the dan­ce, and during theis the women serve the traditional menu for the guests.
