ENTRY INTO HUNGARY

To enter Hungary, British, American, Canadian and Australian tourists need a valid travel document showing their identity and nationality, and a visa, for which two photos are required. Visitors with expired travel documents will not be allowed to enter Hungary.

At border crossing points: highway border crossing points Budapest Ferihegy Airport (Terminals I and II)

International Boat Station

Visas are issued in 1-2 hours depending on the volume of the traffic.

Important! Visas are not issued at railway border crossing stations.

TYPES OF VISA

Entry visa

— for one entry

— for two entries

— for several entries during a period of 1 year, but no stay can be longer than 30 days

Transit visa

— valid for 48 hours, but you cannot enter and leave the country at the same border crossing section

If a visa application is refused, a request for a review of the claim can be made to the Hungarian foreign mission.

EXTENSION

You may ask for a visa extension 48 hours before it expires at the police station nearest to your place of residence in Hungary. Persons wishing to extend their stay in Hungary must produce evidence that they have the financial means to support themselves.
