3. The Local Studies Group of the Association of Hungarian Librarians (HKSZ). - 3.3. National Conferences organised by the HKSZ.

It provides biographical information on Hungarians who have lived both within and outwith the borders of Hungary. József Komlósi (Székesfehérvár County Library) was instrumental in obtaining this concession and seventeen other libraries were able to take advantage of the offer. 3.3. National Conferences organised by the HKSZ The national Conferences of the HKSZ are organised every year in different places, usually together with the Bibliographic Section of the National Association of Hungarian Librarians. The HKSZ and the host library agree the programme and the responsibilities of both Sections are resolved. The HKSZ Committee is charged with determining the theme and the aims of the Conferences and with giving professional background support. The host library, together with the Committee, is responsible for suggesting suitable lecturers and for deciding on the main speakers. The host library also chooses local speakers, arranges the professional and social programmes, relevant places to visit and suitable venues. Model example of a three-day national Conference 1 st day pm. A press conference, the opening ceremony, a programme of speakers presenting the main conference themes, international affairs, the Conference reception. 2 nd day: A second round of papers with speakers continuing the main conference theme and connecting topics, a study tour/excursion to sites of local interest or to important local collections 3 rd day: A presentation by the host library, discussions on the conference theme, the closing ceremony It is usual for Hungarian librarians living in neighbouring countries to be invited to these Conferences. The Conference organisers must always create opportunities for the delegates to speak informally about their work and their problems, allowing them the possibility of modifying their ideas and professional practice. This atmosphere is necessary to keep the Group active and vigorous. 55
