Kr<xssé 1^2/1987 (E) November 29th, 1987 The U.N, Declaration on Humán Rights is alsó Confiscated by the Hungárián Authorities On November 28th, nearly two months after the West European Conference, the graphic artist Tamás Molnár came back to Budapest - he is a member of the independent art group INCONNU - he had on October 23rd taken part in the organisation of the commemorations in London and had spoken in a big Labour Party meeting on November 7th and had given many interviews to the Hungárián section of the BBC in the last few veeks. Tamás Molnár and his wife had already had their luggage searched on the train by Hungárián cus- toms at the bordér when in the Eastern Railway Station in Budapest bordér officials continued their search. The train had arrived at 9.^0 pm bút the Molnárs spent more than three hours, until 1 am, in the customs Office. Sixteen photographs of Afghanistan released by the international press, the Hungárián text of the U.N.’s universal humán rights declaration, the text of the charter of the Hungárián Humán Rights League in Vienna and letters conceming humán rights were confiscated from them. Molnár was threatened with further proceedings and a house search if he did nőt say where the confiscated matériái came from and if he did nőt sign a statement. He completely refused to comply with both demands and said that the seques- tration was illegal as there is no law prohibiting documents concerned with |juman rights from being brought intő Hungary. During the search Tamás Molnár’s friend Ferenc Kőszeg appeared at the station, he objected to the proceedings and so his papers were alsó checked. This is the first time that Tamás Molnár has received a passport permit- ting to legally travel to the West, he went to Germany, England, Francé and Austria. On the telephdme he said to the Hungárián October Freepress that it "was an unpleasant and sad experience to return frcrm a democracy to a Peoples Democracy".
