Once again a ten thousand forint fine

Today József Talata, an editor of the samizdat periodical "Betveen Poles", was again fined 10 000 forints because he infringed the press laws. According to the charge Talata had produced publications uithout permission, this was proved by materials which were confiscated on May 26 during a house search. On May 26 the police did conduct a house search in József Talata’s fiat, bút they did nőt find the above-mentioned evidence. Somé other publications, made by other participants in the democratic opposition movement, were confiscated.

The editors of the samizdat periodical "Between Poles" have been persecuted since the beginning of the year by the Hungárián political police with house searches, cár checks and fines and - in Zsolt Keszthelyi’s case - with conscription.
