Finally, Dr Sternlicht, in whose honour this species is named, recognized that it was a new species and prepared it for description under the name "Andricus carmelis", and sent some designated paratypes to the British Museum even. Distribution - Turkey, Israel and Iran (Lorestan). Biology - Only the asexual generation is known to induce bud galls on Quercus infectoria (Chodjai 1980 and Sternlicht labels), Q. boissieri (Sternlicht labels), and Q. komarovii (Chodjai 1980). The sexual generation, supposedly develops on Q. cerris or related species of oaks, as other species of this group. There are two species, Andricus bulgaricus Vassileva-Samnalieva, 1977 and Cynips moreae Graeffe, 1905, which, on the basis of their gall structure, closely resembles the kollari species-group, and their taxonomic status is still questionable. We discuss these two species below. Andricus bulgaricus Vassileva-Samnalieva, 1977, uncertain status Type material - Lost. Comments - The asexual females are known only from Bulgaria, which induce bud galls on Q. pubescens (Vassileva-Samnalieva 1977, 1985). The gall is overpersist on trees from autumn till spring, mature in June, adults emerge in August - September (Vassileva-Samnalieva 1977, 1987). The location, shape and Fig. 76.
