(Acari: Astigmata, Chaetodactylidae), a mite associated with undetermined Anthophoridae (Hymenoptera) from Mauritius — A new species based on hypopi: S. (Sennertia) aldeodadi found on undetermined Anthophoridae from Mauritius is described. Key words: Acari, Astigmata, new species, Mauritius. INTRODUCTION In the genus Sennertia Oudemans, 1905 until now 53 species were described, based on hypopi. In the genus five subgenera were distinguished by Fain (1981). More than 30 species belong to the subgenus Sennertia Oudemans. In Africa the following 20 species belonging to this subgenus were found: S. (S.) madagascariensis Fain, S. (S.) herminae Haitiinger, both from Madagascar, S. (S.) simplex Trägardh from Cameroon, S. (S.) capensis Fain, S. (S.) scutata Fain, S. (S.) caffra Vitzthum all from South Africa, S. (S.) latipilis Fain from Kenya, S. (S.) tanythrix Fain, S. (S.) spinifera Fain, S. (S.) benoiti Fain, S. (S.) mesotrichia Fain, S. (S.) leclercqi Fain, 5". (S.) congoicola Fain, S. (S.) elseni Fain all from Zaire, S. (S.) varicosa Fain from Zaire and Angola, S. (S.) morsatti Vitzthum (= S. (S.) moandensis Fain) from Zaire and East Africa, S. (S.) ceratinarum Fain from the Afrotropical Region, S. (S.) cantabrica Zachvatkin from Algeria, S. (S.) tunisiana Fain and S. (S.) dalyi Fain, both from Tunisia (Fain 1981, Haitiinger 1999). In this paper a new species of Sennertia from Mauritius is described. During February 2000 16 undetermined Anthophoridae were caught in Mauritius. On seven specimens 36 hypopi were found. The specimens studied in this paper were mounted on slides using Berlese fluid. Terminology for dorsal setae and chaetotaxy follows Grandjean (1939) and OConnor (1996). All measurements were made in micrometers (pm). Holotype and a part of paratypes are deposited in the Museum of Natural History, Wroclaw University (MNHWU). The remaining paratypes are shared and placed in the author's collection (Department of Zoology, Agricultural University, Wroclaw) and in the Collection of Arachnida (2 paratypes) of the Hungarian Natural History Museum (Budapest, Hungary).
