Plumarius tumidulus sp. n. from Argentina (Hymenoptera: Plumariidae) J. Papp Plumarius tumidulus sp. n. from Argentina (Hymenoptera: Plumariidae) — Detailed description of the new species is presented. Plumarius baloghi Nagy is nearest to P. tumidulus sp. n., their distinctive features are given in a key. With 14 original figures. Key words: Plumarius, new species, description. INTRODUCTION The last revisionary paper of the Plumarius Philippi, 1873 species was prepared by Nagy (1973). In it nine Plumarius species were reviewed of which five proved to be new to science, the nine species are as follows: P. andrei (Bischoff, 1914), P. argentinus Nagy, 1973, P. baloghi Nagy, 1973, P. chilensis Nagy, 1973, P. densepunctatus Nagy, 1973, P. hirticornis (André, 1909), P. niger Philippi, 1873, P. striaticeps (André, 1913) and P. topali Nagy, 1973. The Plumarius species are exclusively known by their males and their distribution is restricted to the Neotropical Region. Evans (1967) reported first the discovery of the female Plumarius, however, Brothers (1974) refused it saying that the female in question was "wrongly placed". Subsequently the tenth Plumarius species is added to the above list under the name P. tumidulus sp. n., the species is described on the basis of the male holotype specimen that was taken in Argentina. Plumarius tumidulus sp. n. 6 (Figs 1-8) Material examined (ld). — Male holotype: Argentina, Tucuman, 6 October 1949, leg. W. Wittmer. Holotype is deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum (Department of Zoology), Budapest, Hym. Typ. No. 7940. — Holotype is in a fairly good condition: 1.) antennae damaged, right antenna with 9 and left antenna with 11 antennomeres; 2.) left fore tarsomeres 2-5 and left hind tarsomere 5 missing; 3.) wings apically more or less creased.
