This idea substantially corresponds to the concepts of Uvarov (1929) and Röber (1951) concerning the origin of Orthoptera fauna of Palaearctic and Europe, respectively. According to them, the tropical Tertiary species, which partly had become extinct, partly had retired into refuges during Quaternary glacial periods, were succeeded by species from East ("Angara fauna" - Uvarov 1929) and that of refugee fauna of the Mediterranean invading the North during the postglacial period.
