FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LIX 1998 pp. 53-56 New data to the distribution of some Palaearctic scale insects (Homoptera: Coccoidea) F. Kozár and B. Nagy New data to the distribution of some Palaearctic scale insects (Homoptera: Coccoidea) - Thirty-one scale insect species are reported from 11 countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Egypt, France, Greece, Hungary, Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland,) mostly from the European part of the Palaearctic Region. All species are new for the fauna of the respective countries. The paper presents data on the localities (collecting places), host plants, instar and also on species density. INTRODUCTION In the present paper we continue our work on the exploration of the scale insect fauna of the Palaearctic Region. The nomenclature follows the works of Ben Dov (1993, 1994), Danzig (1993), Kosztarab and Kozár (1978, 1988), and Kozár (1984, 1986). The distribution of three species of the list was shown on a map earlier (Kozár 1991). The present paper contains results of surveys of 10 collectors between 1986-1997. MATERIAL AND METHODS The materials were secured during individual collections on the host plants. One species was collected by D-Vac suction trap, in a research project organised by dr. F. Samu and another one by pheromone trap, mentioned in the text. The material is deposited in the collection of the Plant Protection Institute, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Budapest, Hungary), as microscopic slides. The rest is preserved in alcohol, or in dry conditions in the same institute. In the evaluation and description of the materials F means the infestation degree (density) on a 0—4 score system (Kozár, 1990), the number in parentheses refers to the number in the collection of the senior author. Most of the data originate from the collecting of the Author, if not, it will be indicated otherwise.
