except "2000 m 31.VII. 1983, 1 Ç (Luzern)". It is easy to separate C. caucasicus and C. splendidus (Fabricius, 1794 (=consimilis Buysson, 1887) from the other species by the black propodeum, abdomen without distinct metallic colour and by the double punctures of T-III-IV. The main differences are between the two holotypes: pronotum with more or less deep, scattered punctures (in caucasicus) and with rather deep and denser punctures (in splendidus). However, the characters are alternatingly developed among several specimens, e.g. the presence of a sulcus between hind ocelli; the sacattered and dense punctures occurring within the same population (Hungary: Szöllőske 2-3. VIII. 1884 and 16. VII. 1887), moreover, the scattered punctures and the very dense coarse punctures occur in the same locality (Turkey 1200 m and 2000 m). The same differences are in the punctures of the mesonotum, scutellum and mesopleuron. The colour of pronotum is similarly variable. It is usually greenish gold or reddish gold (holotype of caucasicus and in more specimens from Hungary). Pronotum • flame red of golden red (Spain: Almeria, 25. VII. 1951 ). Pronotum golden red in 1 9 and largely green in 2 9 in the same locality (Szöllőske). Likewise, pronotum golden green in 2 9, golden red in 1 9 and bright green in 1 9 (specimen from Turkey, 1200, 2000 m). The latter was described from Italy, distributed in Europe, North Africa, Turkey, South Russia, Israel, Georgia and Iran. The couple 28: „(antakyensis Linsenmaier according to Linsenmaier)" should be omitted, the correct text is „Vertex, pronotum, scutellum coppery-flame red with few golden tints; mesonotum, postscutellum purple (in specimen from Mut dark blackis purple), propodeal disc dark greenish blue, mesopleuron dark bluish green.
