Mahunka Notes and remarks on oribatid taxa (Acari), III. - "Fen species are listed from Szigetköz (NW Hungary), with the description of Sellnickochthonius danubialis sp. n. from the same area. Taxonomical and nomenclatorial corrections are given on some oribatid taxa. Under this series title I published results and notes not strictly related to one another. The original idea (Mahunka 1990) was to make known the information as soon as possible that might help further research. The present contribution gives faunistic data on material collected in the Szigetköz (NW Hungary) gained thorough the research activity of monitoring in connection with the environmental damage caused by diversion of the Danube. Herewith I also present the description of a new species (part I) and some corrections (part II) in the taxonomy of oribatids. I. DATA TO THE ORTBATID-FAUNA OF THE SZIGETKÖZ The Szigetköz (NW Hungary), an area between the Duna (Danube) and the MosoniDuna, once an excellent, forested flood area with hardwood groves, marshy and thick woods. Its floristic and faunistic values have never been explored thoroughly, its original riches could only be surmised. This section of the Danube between Hungary and Slovakia has gone under drastic changes and began to dry out. This, of course, will strongly influence its soil mite fauna. Unfortunately, we have no data regarding this area in the literature as far as Oribatida are concerned, save the references of two peculiar species of Heterostigmata (Mahunka and Mahunka-Papp 1994). Here we regularly collect samples from several localities, especially from the western hardwood groves, highly interesting and rare species mostly Atlanto-Mediterranean elements come forward.
