ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LVIII 1997 pp. 115-135 Taxonomic revision of seven European species of the genus Bracon Fabricius (Hymenoptera: Braconidae)* J. Papp Taxonomic revision of seven European species of the genus Bracon Fabricius (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) - The following species are redescribed and their systematic position reassessed: Bracon (Glabrobracon) colpophorus Wesmael, Bracon (Glabrobracon) delusor Spinola, Bracon (Glabrobracon) hyalinipennis Szépligeti, Bracon (Cyanopterobracon) illyricus Marshall, Bracon (Glabrobracon) instabilis Marshall, Bracon (Lucobracon) tornator Marshall and Bracon (Glabrobracon) zonites Marshall. New synonyms were established: Bracon colpophorus = Bracon mokrzeckii Niezabitowski, jun. syn.; Bracon hyalinipennis = Bracon coloratus Szépligeti, jun. syn.; Bracon illyricus = Bracon kriechbaumeri Szépligeti, Bracon mauritaniens Schmiedeknecht, Bracon xanthogaster Kriechbaumer, jun. syns; Bracon otiosus Marshall = Bracon macrurus Thomson, jun. syn. With 71 original figures. Introduction - There are several species of the genus Bracon Fabricius, 1804 in the braconid fauna of Europe which are either little known or misinterpreted. From among them seven species, detailed in the abstract, have been studied on the basis of their typeseries as well as authentic material. Every species was redescribed completed with their, partly new, synonyms and their systematic position was rearranged in the light of modern considerations. In the descriptions of the species the following abbreviations are applied: Wing venation: cul-3 = first, second and third section of the cubital vein; cuqul-2 = first and second transverse cubital vein; dl-2 = first and second section of the discoidal vein; rl-3 = first, second and third section of the radial vein; CU2 = second cubital cell; Dl = first discal cell. Ocelli: OD = greatest diameter of an ocellus, OOL = shortest distance between hind ocellus and eye, POL = shortest distance between hind two ocelli.
