Fig. 4: Aethes caucasica; male genitalia (Nr. 467/Kovács); Toldal (Mures), 13. V. 1989 Material examined: northern part of the Mezőség, close to Târgu Mures, at Toldal (MuresJ, 13. V. 1989 (1 male); SW edge of the Mezőség at Viiçoara (Câmpia Turzii), 5. VII. 1995 (15 males, 3 females). Slide Nos 467, 493 (males), 494, 499 (females). The external morphology of the males (Fig. 2) matches well with the description of Razowski (1970), the wingspan is 17-21 mm. The configuration of the male genitalia (Figs 4 and 5) is closer to that of the specimen from Italy. The three females have a wingspan 18, 19 and 20 mm, respectively (Fig. 3). The fore wings are broader in shape, the costa is more angled at its base, and the apex is more pointed, than in case of the males. The ochreous ground colour of the head, thorax and the fore wings is the same as in the males but the ochreous-brown fore wing pattern — the spots at the inner margin and the tornus, the patches along the costa and the inner margin and the darker irroration of the apical third — are more expressed in the females. The hind wing is narrower, somewhat darker brown-grey, the abdomen is greyish, with a few ochreous scales at the apical edges of the segments.
