5. Pécs This reed stand is next to highway No. 6 on a highly polluted dry land. Because of gradual degradation, the reed vegetation is retreating fast. Time of collection: February, March 1987. 6. Pellérd, fish pond The reed borders the fish pond. Time of collection: December 1985. 7. Lake Balaton, Szigliget Neighbouring an angling resort there is a reed stand temporarily covered by water. Due to physical damage it is rather degraded. Time of collection: February 1987. 8. Lake Balaton, Badacsonytomaj, sewage farm Near to lake Balaton the treated sewage runs from the pools through ditches to the coastal reed stand. Around the sewage pool there is no reed at all in the vegetation, and at the outlets in a semicircle it has been replaced by bulrush (Typha latifolia and 77. angustifolia). The reed vegetation of the area is generally in a very poor condition. It gets under water only temporarily. Time of collection: April 1992. 9. Lake Balaton, Tihany, Bozsai-öböl It is a stand in good condition. Permanently, and in part, temporarily under water. Most of the area is mown yearly. Among the investigated coastal reed ecosystems, this one is in the best condition. Time of collection: January-February 1986-87. 10. Lake Velence, Dinnyés The investigated area at the south-western part of the lake is a Nature Protection Area. Here a large, contiguous reed stand has been reserved. Unfortunately its state is getting worse year after year due to physical damage and pollution. We collected reed from permanently, temporarily water covered and dry areas. Time of collection: March 1986; February 1987. 11. Lake Velence, Pákozd This reed area is situated at the northern coast of the lake, being temporarily water covered. In the last few years it has been retreating and it is in bad state. Time of collection: March 1986. 12. Lake Velence, Velencefürdő This area is most exposed to physical damage, thus the whole stand is broken up to small patches. We collected from the scattered off-coast stands in water and from the very degraded coastal stands. Time of collection: February 1987. 13. Budaörs Here the reed surrounds a little lake with open water surface. It is found at the boundary of Budapest between the most frequented motorway M7 and the airport. This is an illegal refuse dump of the locals, thus, the reed is obviously retreating and degrading.
