This area is doomed to perish, there is little hope to save it. Time of collection: April 1992. 14. Nagykovácsi Close to the village there are three patches of reed growing near to one another, but the patches are disconnected. One of the patches grows on dry ground. It is a strongly degraded and presently a slowly disappearing stand. There is a plan for its reconstruction. Time of collection: April 1986; February 1987; March 1988. 15. Gödöllő, Babati halastavak (fish ponds) Several little ponds connected to each other form the examined wet land. The reed is replaced here and there by other plants, e.g. bulrush (Typha). The stand is strongly degraded. Time of collection: April 1992. 16. Aggtelek National Park, Szögliget It is a dry reed stand. Time of collection: April 1992. 17. Aggtelek National Park, Komjáti, Komlós-forrás (Komlós spring) Temporarily water covered. Time of collection: April 1992. 18. Aggtelek National Park, Hidvégardó Reed vegetation on partly water-covered and dry ground. Time of collection: April 1992. 19. Kiskunság National Park, Izsák, Kolon-tó (lake) It is one of the largest swampy areas on the Great Plain in Hungary. Here the water surface and as well as its vegetation are reduced owing to the very dry seasons of the last few years. The untouched and healthy reed stands are growing on temporarily water covered grounds. March 1993. 20. Hortobágy National Park, Egyek, Ohati-halastó (fish pond) Good quality reed grows here over a large area. Most of it is mown and sold every year. These mown areas are almost free of phragmitophagous insects, except moths. The examined material was collected from the unmown coastal stand. Time of collection: March 1993. 21. Hortobágy National Park, Újszentmargita, Margitai-erdő (forest) The last remnants of the ancient native forests of the Great Plain are found here. At the edge of the forest there is a strongly thinned and degraded patch of reed. We found one of the largest Lipara population here. Time of collection: March 1993. 22. Bátorliget Nature Reserves Reed was a wide-spread element of the ancient swamp vegetation of the Nyírség regions and covered large endless areas. Due to reclaiming of these swamps and mires the reed vegetation began gradually to break up and dry out. Investigations were made at a
