S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 55. (Budapest, 1994)

ORGILINAE In Hungary the subfamily comprises three genera (the numbers of the respective species occurring in Hungary are indicated in parenthesis): Charmon Haliday (2), Kerorgilus Van Achterberg (1) and Orgilus Haliday (32), i.e. a total of 35 orgiline species are known in our country. The majority (i.e. 23) of the species in the genus Orgilus was described recently by Tobias (1976, 1986) and by Taeger (1989), hence their Zoogeographie distributions are not well known. Furthermore, the majority of the Hungarian specimens of the Orgilus species was identified by A. Taeger within the frame of his revisionary work on this genus (Taeger 1989). In consequence of his results in the taxonomy of the genus Orgilus the following three species should be deleted from the list of the Hungarian fauna: O. laevigator (Nees), O. nitidus Marshall and O. obscurator (Nees). CHARMON Haliday, 1833 The genus was ranged by Van Achterberg (1987) in the subfamily Homolobinae and by Tobias (1986) in the Orgilinae, in this respect I follow the latter author. So far four species are listed from the world: Holarctic, Ethiopian and Indo-Australian Region (Van Achterberg 1979). In Hungary two species are registered (remark: Tobias 1986: 274, considers the name Ch. cruentatus as synonym of Ch. extensor contrarily to Van Achterberg's comprehension, I accepted the latter's standpoint). The name Calyptus hungaricus Zilahi-Kiss proved to refer to the species Ch. extensor.
