FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK L 1989 p. ]5-i7 Nomenclatorical and taxonomic notes on Palaearctic Hybotidae (Diptera) — 2. By M. CHVÁLA (ReceiTed March 31, 1968) Abstract: Nomenclatorical and taxonomic notes on Palaearctic Hybotidae (Diptera), 2 - During the preparation of a Catalogue of Palaearctic Diptera several changes in nomenclature in the subfamily Tachydromiinae (Diptera, Hybotidae) proved to be necessary. Platypalpus kovalevi nom, n. and Tachy- dromia microceroides nom. n. are proposed to replace homonyms, and new synonyms are proposed. The systematic position of Tetraneurella Dahl and Pseudostilpon Seguy within the genus Stilpon Loew are discussed. In the first part of the nomenclatorical and taxonomic notes on the Empididae s. lat. (Chvála, 1985) practically no changes in the Hybotidae were proposed. However, during the preparation of the final manuscript of the subfamily Tachydromiinae (Diptera, Hybotidae), prepared together with V. G. Kovalev, several important changes based on homonymy and synonymy have additionally appeared. Since the Hybotidae are included in Vol.6, of the Catalogue of Palaearctic Diptera, which is to be issued by the Hungarian Akadémiai Kiado, Budapest in 1988, the following new names and synonyms are briefly commented below. Platypalpus brachystylus (Bezzi, 1892) comb. n. Tachydromia brachystyla Becker (nom.ined.) in Bezzi, 1892: Atti Soc. VenetoTrentina Sei. nat. (2)1, 1: 263. Tachydromia pubicornis var, brunneitibja Stróbl, 1899: Wien. ent. Ztg, 18: 78 - syn. n. This species has been known for a long time under the name Platypalpus brunneitibia (Stróbl), originally described as a variety of pubicornis Zett. (= longicornis Meig.) from N Italy, Monte Baldo. Bezzi (1892) described this species as T. brachystyla Becker in litt, also from N Italy (Rovereto), and I have seen another Becker's specimen in the Zool. Mus. Berlin labelled " T. brachystyla Beck, in litt, in Bezzi" from Vallombrosa, N Italy. There are no doubts that P. brunneitibia (Stróbl) is a junior synonym of P. brachystylus (Bezzi). Platypalpus kovalevi nom. n. Tachydromia engandinica var, infus cata Oldenberg, 1924: Ent. Mitt., 13: 88, nec Tachy dromia infuscata Meigen, 1822: Syst. Beschr., 3: 84. Platypalpus infuscatus (Oldenberg, 1924) is a junior primary homonym of Platypal pus infuscatus (Meigen, 1822) (= P. annulipes Meig.) and as there is no junior synonym available, the new name Platypalpus kovalevi is proposed. The species is named after Dr. V.G. Kovalev, Moscow, who has pointed out this homonymy.
