Platypalpus pseudofulvipea (Frey, 1909) Tachydromia flavipes var. pseudofulvlpes Frey, 1909: Acta Soc. Fauna Flora fenn., 31 (9): 9. Tachydromia coarctata Collin, 1926: Entomologist's mon. Mag., 62: 138 - syn. n. This rather common European species has been known under the name Platypalpus coarctatus (Coll.). P. pseudofulvipes (Frey) was described from Finland, the syntypic series present in the Finnish Coll. in Helsinki includes two species, P. interstinctus (Coll.*. and P. coarctatus (Coll.). One specimen from Messuby (Tavastia austr.) , labelled "Spec, typ. No 4452, Tach. flavipes Fabr. v. pseudofulvipes Frey' , which is hereby designated as lectotype of P. pseudofulvipes (Frey), represents a species known up to now as P. coarcta tus (Coll.); the latter becomes a junior synonym of P. pseudofulvipes (Frey, 1909). Grootaert (1985) has recently proposed in the genus Platypalpus Macq. several new synonymies based on the revision of Meigen's Coll. in Paris. These synonymies are, of course, also included in the Palaearctic Catalogue. However, in two species belonging to the very difficult Platypalpus agilis-complex, P. celer (Meigen, 1822) and P. pygmaeus (Meigen, 1838), the type specimens of which are questionable and/or damaged, the proposed synonymy was not followed in the Catalogue; the above two Meigen's species are listed among ' Doubtful species' . Tachydromia microceroides nom. n. Platypalpus microcerus Frey, 1943: Notul. ent., 23: 4, 15, nec Platypalpus flavirostris Loew var. microcerus Melander, 1928: Gen. Ins., 185 (1927): 325. Platypalpus microcerus Frey, 1943, transferred to the genus Tachydromia Meig. by Chvála (1977), is a junior primary homonym of the Nearctic Platypalpus flavirostris var. microcerus Melander, 1928. The new name T. microceroides , indicating its relation to T. microcera (Frey), is proposed. Tachydromia microptera (Loew, 1864) Tachista microptera Loew, 1864: Z. Ent. Breslau, 14 (1860): 26. Tachypeza brevipennis Roser, 1840: CorrespBl. württ. landw. Ver Stuttg. (N.S. ), 17(1): 53, nec Tachypeza brevipennis Zetterstedt, 1838: Ins. Lapp. : 548. This species has been known for a long time under the name Tachydromia brevipen nis (Ros.). However, since Tachypeza brevipennis Ros. is a junior primary homonym of Tachypeza brevipennis Zett. ( r Chersodromia arenaria Hal. ), the junior available synonym T. microptera (Loew) is proposed as a valid name for this species. Genus Stilpon Loew, 1859 Tetraneurella Dahl, 1909, established as a monotypic genus for T. beckeri Dahl, 1909, was arranged in the Nearctic Catalogue of Diptera as a subgenus of Stilpon for the Nearctic S. pleuriticus Melander. Since Tetraneurella beckeri Dahl is merely a stenopterous form of S. graminum (Fall.), the type species of the genus Stilpon , Tetraneurella is an obvious junior synonym of Stilpon. Séguy (19 50) described a new genus Pseudostilpon for two species from French Pyrenees: P. paludosus (Perris, 1852), the type by orig. designation, and P. delamarei Séguy, 1950. The given features seem to be scarcely of generic importance, as for instance the abbreviated vein R^+3 (mistakenly indicated as "R2+5" and the vein R4+5 as "M^") is often incomplete in stenopterous forms, and almost regularly for instance in S. lunatus (Walk.) and S. sublunatus Coll. Pseudostilpon Séguy is provisionally arranged in the Catalogue as a subgenus of Stilpon , but it rather seems to be only another synonym of Stilpon, like the Tetraneurella.
