ed with scattered, irregular puncturation, which is a little denser in the impressions (Fig. 17). Scutellum large, shield-like, shagreened, with a few large punctures near apex. Elytra a little longer than broad together (45:42), a little widened behind, humeral angles feebly produced forwards, postero-external angles widely rounded, apical edges run inwards to obtuseangular suturai angles. Disc between humeral knob and suturai margin with 5 punctato-striae , but not reaching apex, confluent with irregular punctures before apex. Interspaces flat, surface moderately shining, the extreme broader than elsewhere, with 2 irregular, but visible longitudinal rows of punctures in the middle. Elytral epipleura shining, with loose coriaceous ground-sculpture and without distinct punctures. Abdomen elongate, moderately widened behind to the broadest 5th (visible) tergite, having yellowish-white membraneous margin on apex becoming narrow apically, surface in spite of very fine coriaceous ground-sculpture rather shining, covered with distinct punctures. Puncturation is most conspicuous on disc of 5th tergite. Length 5 mm. Holotype is labelled: "Turkestan Aulie-Ata" block letters on white label: "coll. Reitter" block letters on white label; "type Reitteri Luze" handwriting on white label; "Schuberti Mötsch. " - handwriting - "det. Bernhauer" block letters on the same white label; "Coprophilus Schuberti Mots. " - handwriting - "det. Székessy" - block letters on the same white label; "Monotypus 1904 Coprophilus Reitteri Luze" handwriting on white red framed label; "Holotypus <j> 1987 Zonoptilus reitteri Luze det. Dr. Tóth L. " handwriting on red framed white label. Specimen mounted on white label, 4th to 11th segments of left antenna absent. 8 unknown. The type is deposited in the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. BERNHAUER (1908) treated the species as a synonym of C. (Z) schubertii Motschulsky, 1860, but even a single cursory glance at the types was enough to recognize the 2 valid, distinct species. Evidently BERNHAUER's opinion was based only on the incomplete original description. On the basis of the 5-segmented club of the antenna C. (Z. ) reitteri Luze 1904 was placed among C. (Z. ) pentatoma Fauvel, 1897, C. (Z. ) longicornis Bernhauer, 1903 and C. (Z. ) solskyi Bernhauer, 1908 though some other external features indicate very distant relationship only. Coprophilus (Zonoptilus) pennifer Motschulsky, 1845 Original description by the author very short and incomplete, therefore a redescription is nécessaire: "Zonoptylus pennifer m. " Head shining black except the reddish, transiucid anterior margin of front, pronotur. shining dark chestnut-brown, elytra reddish-yellow with a brown, triangular mark extending from inner side of humeral knob to suturai margin of both elytra, labrum, palpi yellow, legs rusty-red, antennae testaceous, only a little darkened apically. Head broader than long (15:11), compound eyes are small, moderately convex scarcely prominent. The tubercles above the insertions of antennae on the front rather shining, at internal side 1 pit-like fovea. Head behind compound eyes with a deep, curved, transversal furrow, upper surface rather shining, covered with scattered puncturation which is a little denser on vertex, under surface especial-, ly on postero-ocular region, covered with strong, coriaceous microsculpture and coarse punctures. Antenna with large 1st segment, 2nd and 3rd reversed obconical, 2nd a little longer and narrower than 3rd, 4th to 7th a little broader, 4th to 6th nearly equal in length and width, 7th a little transverse, 8th to 11th larger than the former ones, covered with fine, long setae and also fine pubescence, separated as a loose 4-segmented club (Fig. 14). The last segment 1. 5 time6 longer than wide, with an obtuse apex. Pronotum a little longer than broad (24:23), anterior edge slightly emarginated on middle, anterior angles narrowly rounded and retracted posteriorly, lateral sides narrowed backwards in a nearly straight line to the obtuse-angular posterior angles, margined, basal edge curved, distinctly margined, disc moderately arched with 1 very small round fovea on middle near base, surface smooth and shining, covered with scattered large punctures and irregularly set small punctures (Fig. 2). Scutellum rounded apically, disc covered with deep and large punctures. Elytra insignificantly broader than long (29:27), longer than pronotum (27:24), a little widened backwards. Humeral angles feebly produced forwards, postero external angles widely rounded, apical edge runs inwards to the nearly rectangular suturai angle, disc between humeral knob and suturai edge with 5 punctato-striae from which the outer ones almost reaching to apex, the inner
