FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLIX 1988 p. 167-184 Contributions to the Braconid fauna of Hungary, VIII. Microgastrinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) By J. PAPP (Received October 22,1987) Abstract: Seventy-six species of the glomeratus-group within the genus Apanteles Foerster are reported from Hungary and the adjacent countries of the Carpathian Basin. Twenty-five species are new to the fauna of Hungary. Taxonomical and faunistical characterization of each species is given. A checklist of the species of the glomeratus-group splitting up in three subgroups is compiled. APANTELES Foerster, 1862 The GLOMERATUS-group The glomeratus-group sensu NIXON (1965, 1974) within the genus Apanteles Foerster is identical with the generic conception of Cotesia Cameron, 1891 sensu MASON (1981). The species of this species-group (or genus) are distributed in highest number in the temperate zone of the Holarctic Region; the number of the species known from the subtropical/tropical regions are relatively low. In Hungary seventy-six species were found, of which twenty-five species proved to be new for the fauna of Hungary; they are enumerated as follows: Apante les acutulus Tobias, A. ancilla Nixon, A. arcticus Thomson, A. callimone Nixon, A. clepta • Tobias, A. cynthiae Nixon, A. eulipis Nixon, A. euryale Nixon, A. gades Nixon, A. glabratus Telenga, A. gonopterygis Marshall, A. hyphantriae Riley, A. isolde Nixon, A. judaicus Papp, A. kurdjumovi Telenga, A. lineola (Curtis), A. lycophron . A'." melitaea ru m Wilkinson, A . mem- non Nixon, A. onaspis Nixon, A. pilicornis Thomson, A. risilis Nixon, A. salebrosus Marshall, A. shemachaensis Tobias and A. telengai Tobias. In general, the species of the glo meratusgroup are difficult to identify; keys for the European species have been constructed by NIXON (1974), PAPP (1986, 1987) and TOBIAS (1986). - The material served for the present elaboration is deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Apanteles abjectus Marshall, 1885 (= complanatus Lyle, 1916) - In comparison to its nearest species, A. gades Nixon, second tergite more transverse, (2. 8-)3-3. 2 times wider behind than long medially, its hind margin faintly sinuate; first tergite slightly less large; both tergites usually rugose-rugulose laterally, otherwise smooth and shiny. Penultimate joint of antenna 1.5-1.6 times as long as broad. Body black, legs reddish yellow, coxae 1-2 brownish black, coxa 3 black, hind femur with variable infuscation. Distribution:'Sporadically in Europe, in Hungary rare. Localities - 1/1 :* 1 c-: Érd, ex Ennomos autumnaria Wernb. (Lep. Geometridae) 27 *The Roman/Arabic numerals refer to the zoogeographical districts and subdistricts of the faunal territory of the Carpathian Basin comprising the countries Hungary, and parts of Czechoslovakia, the USSR, Romania, Yugoslavia and Austria (MÓCZÁR et al. 1972).
