FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLVII. 1-2 1986 p. 127-133 New and little known Mesitiinae (Hymenoptera: Bethylidae) L. MÓCZÁR (Received January 17, 1986) Abstract: Five species of Mesitiinae belonging in three genera are recorded from Gibraltar, Nigeria and Nepal. Three new species are described: Clytrovorus levis sp.n. ( ç ), Sulcomesitius godavarensis sp.n. ( ç> ), and S. nepalensis sp.n. ( o. 6" i, as well as newer data are given to the poorly known species of S. bridwelli (Nagy) and Pycnomesitius krombeini (Nagy). After the publication of the Oriental Mesitiinae (MÓCZÁR 1984) L. MASNER kindly sent a material, the great majority of which is originating from Nepal, preserved in the Biosystematics Research Institute of Ottawa. In the material the 7 o_ ar) d 32 <? represent 5 species, among them 3 are new: Clytrovorus levis sp.n. (o), Sulcomesitius godavarensis sp.n. ( 5 ) and S. nepalensis sp.n. (có*). The further two species have been known by their original locality of the description ( Sulcomesitius bridwelli Nagy, 1968), respectively, besides that on the basis of one single female recently collected in Sri Lanka ( Pycnomesitius krombeini Nagy, 1968). The 32 males display interesting variability in the sculpture of Mesitiinae, similarly to S. kuncheriai Móczár, 1976 (MÓCZÁR 1985). This circumstance allows the discussion of the validity of some species described on the basis of a single male specimen. Clytrovorus levis sp.n. Specimen examined: "Gibraltar, J.J.Walker" 1 o_ holotype (Biosystematics Research Institute, Ottawa No. 19195 (H.T.). c_ . - Length 4 mm. Head dark brownish black except the yellowish brown malar space, anterior joints of antenna partly, mandible, as well as the yellow clypeus in front; teeth of mandible red. Abdomen brownish red with yellowish brown spots on tergites 1 posteriorly and 2 basally, also partly laterally, as well as last segments. Wings rudimentary, hardly longer than length of tegula.
