granulation arranged in narrow "V". Antennae yellowish brown, joint 4 blackish. Relative length of antenna! joints 1 to 4 as 16:25:25:34. Rostrum reaching little beyond middle of proste mum. Pronotum 3.6 times as wide as long, with protruding parallel median carinae, lateral margin dentate, strongly arcuate. Abdomen oval, lateral margin of laterotergites with a median tooth, posterolateral angles protruding. Tergites 3-6 each with two distinct elevated tubercles medially. Laterotergite 8 with protruding tooth behind spiracle, 9 narrow, pointed, segment 10 much surpassing tip of laterotergites 8 and 9. Material examined: Berecki, Kőszeg (Hungary). Fifth instar larva (Figs 8, 10): Coloration similar to that of the fourth instar.Head about 0.9 times as long as wide, preocular tubercles pointed, fine tubercles forming infraocular carina the hind tips of which represent postocular tubercles. Antennae brown, sometimes yellowish, joint 4 blackish. Relative length of antenna! joints 1 to 4 as 15:28:27:30. Rostrum reaching to middle of prosternum. Pronotum 3.1 times as wide as long, median carinae more protruding, lateral margin slightly arcuate, posterolateral angle rounded. Abdomen with laterotergites protruding posterolaterally, each with a brown median tooth most expressed on last segments. Four pair of elevated distinct tubercles present on segments 3-6, first and last pair yellow, the other two blackish. Laterotergite 9 narrow, pointed, tip of segment 10 not reaching posterolateral angle of laterotergite 8. Material examined: Berecki, Bozsok, Budapest, Kapuvár, Kőszeg, Pécel (Hungary), Tyrol (Austria), "Kaukas" (USSR) and a further specimen without locality, identified by C. FUSS as a female of A. cinnamomeus Panzer and by K.H.C. JORDAN as larva of also this species. Aradus truncatus Fieber, 1861 Fifth instar larva (Figs 11, 12): Body brown with scattered black and yellow coloration. Head about 0.9 times as long as wide. Preocular tubercle distinct, not pointed, postocular tubercle blunt. Antenna strong, relatively long, joint 2 slightly widening apically, 3 cylindrical. Joints 2-4 with blackish granulation. Relative length of antenna! joints 1 to 4 as 14:30:29:26. Rostrum reaching to about 2/3 of prosternum. Pronotum about 3 times as wide as long, anterolateral angle rounded, lateral margin serrate, slightly convex, posterolateral angle acute, or sharply rounded. Median carinae more elevated anteriorly. Abdomen with obtuse elevation on tergite 3-6, the median two distinctly lower than anterior and posterior ones. Lateral margin of laterotergites slightly concave anteriorly and slightly convex posteriorly, posterolateral angles yellowish, protruding, especially on segments 6-8. Lateral margin of laterotergite 8 with fine tooth medially. Tip of segment 8 surpassing that of 10 and 9, latter the shortest. Yellow teeth, distinctly larger than granulation, on tergites 3-6 posteriorly, posteriorly and medially to midlateral apodemal impression, and on median obtuse tubercles. Ventral lateral apodemal impressions somewhat elongated. Material examined: Jávorkút (Hungary), Steierdorf (Austria). Aradus distinctus Fieber, 1861 Fourth instar larva (Figs 13, 15): General shape and coloration similar to that of the fifth instar. Head about 0.8 times as long as wide. Pre- and postocular tubercles blunt. Antenna relatively short, thick, joints 2 and 3 thickening apically. Relative length of antenna! joints 1 to 4 as 16:27:24:33. Rostrum reaching slightly beyond hind margin of prosternum. Pronotum strongly widening posteriorly, almost 3.8 times as wide as long. Lateral margin serrate, straight or slightly convex, posterolateral angle rounded. Lateral margin of laterotergites widely rounded, posterolateral angle not obvious. Segment 8 reaching strongly beyond 9, subequilongous with 10. Material examined: Lakitelek, Sukoró (Hungary). Fifth instar larva (Figs 14, 16): Oval, reddish brown with the exception of whitish yellow antennái joints 1-3 and yellow marks on median parts of tergites 2-3 and posterolateral angles of laterotergites. Head about 0.8 times as long as wide, preocular tubercle blunt, more distinct than postocular one. Antennái joints 2 and 3 both slightly thickening apically. Relative length of antennái joints 1 to 4 as 14:31:26:29. Rostrum reaching to hind margin of prosternum. Pronotum 3.2 times as wide as long, strongly widening posteriorly. Lateral margin serrate, anteriorly straight, medially slightly rounded, posterolateral angle rounded. Median carinae converging posteriorly. Lateral margin of laterotergites convex, posterolateral angles rounded, increasingly protruding towards tip of abdomen. Tip of segment 8 much surpassing that of 10 and 9, latter the shortest. Material examined: Izsák, Kölked, Pápa, Zagyvaróna (Hungary), Rimaszombat (Rimavská Subota, Czechoslovakia).
