kele), "on standing dead tree trunk", "K.V.KROMBEIN, T.WIJESINHE, L.WEERATUNGE" (Washington USNM Type No. 101153). This species resembles S. masneri sp. n. but differs from it by the characters given ln the key. Sulcomesitius masneri sp. n. - Length 4.5 mm. Red, head and mesonotum in front medially, propodeum darker, while pronotum, mesonotum laterally and posteriorly, scutellum yellowish red, coxae, lower side of femora, tarsi lighter yellowish red, labial and maxillar palpi, tegulae, upper side of tibiae as well as apical part of femora brownish red, eyes, antennái Joints beginning from apical part of Joint 4 to 13 and abdomen black, posterior margins of tergites dark reddish translucent. Wings short, reaching about to middle of tergite 2, fore wings dark brown infuscated, with lighter basis, and a sharply margined hyaline band outside of cells, veins dark brown, pterostigma yellowish brown. Body as well as antennae sparsely covered with white hairs, tergite without a tuft of short white hairs. Head slightly longer than broad (52 : 50), distinctly broadened behind eyes (fig. 46), eyes 1.2 times longer than distance between posterior margin of eyes and occipital carina (18 : 15), lateral sides of head straight and distinctly converging, corners rounded, occipital carina arched, margin narrowly impressed (fig. 46); ocelli in an acute angle, hind ocelli separated from each other by a distance hardly two-thirds of that from eyes, POL:OOL = 7:11, a shallow groove developed before each ocellus; a very short frontal sulcus developed only just above clypeus; frons shagreened, only weakly shining, shallowly and very densely punctured; eyes relatively larger, convex longer than broad (18 : 15), separated from mandibles by slightly greater distance than two-thirds length of eye (13 : 12), anterior margin of clypeus arcuately protruding on its whole margin and raised in a sharp keel medially; antennae short, flagellum slightly thickened medially, only scape slender, three times longer than broad, about as long as Joints 2+3+4 combined joint 2 more than twice as long as broad, 3 less than twice as long as broad, 4-6 1.3-1.5 times broader than long, joints 8, 11 and 13 as long as broad, length (and breadth) proportions of antenna! joints 1-13 = 21(7): 8(3.5): 8(5): 5(6): 4(6): 4.5(6): 5(6): 6(6): 5(6): 5(5): 4(5): 4(4): 7(4). Pronotum rather broad, 1.2 times broader in front than long (without collar) (30 : 25), anterior corners rather obtuse (fig. 46), lateral sides nearly parallel, hardly concave anteriorly, diverging towards tegulae, posterior margin nearly straight only very slightly emarginated and shallowly impressed, surface shagreened with larger punctures than on head, longitudinal furrow deep but narrow. Mesonotum moderately shining with dense minute and some smaller punctures, parapsidal furrows weakly developed, notaulices very deep and sharply margined, longitudinal furrow deep and well margined, broadened posteriorly (fig. 47). Scutellum similar to mesonotum with some larger punctures and shagreened posteriorly with a very small impression in front medially (fig. 47). Propodeum short, transversal diameter 1.16 times broader than its length medially (21 : 18), lateral margins straight, gradually diverging backwards (fig. 47), spines strong about two-thirds as long as propodeum medially (12 : 18), acute (viewed from above, fig. 47) and also from the side. All carinae and areas developed, sublateral area with very fine, lateral one with fine wrinkles transversally. Lateral side of propodeum wrinkled diagonally, also with a parallel longitudinal wrinkle below upper and along posterior margin, fusing in basis of spine. Episternum coarsely sculptured with a rather deep and broad furrow transversally below tegulae. Abdomen smooth and shining, tergite 1 polished only with very fine scattered punctures, tergite 2 finely alutaceous basally with dense and deep punctures medially (fig. 45), with very dense punctures laterally, excepting the broad triangular ventro-lateral margin which is polished nearly over the whole length (fig. 44) similarly the small smooth posterior area of tergite 2 in the middle, posterior margins of tergites 3-6 alutaceous, tergites 3-4 densely and rather deeply punctured, posterior margins of tergites 3-5 semicircularly impressed medially. Sternite 2 with deep and medially scattered, laterally rather dense punctures. - <T. - Unknown. Holotype: o. : "Sri Lanka: Mon. Dist. Angunakolapelessa 100 m", "21-1-1979 coll. P. B.
