S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 45/1. (Budapest, 1984)
Lanka) but differs from It chiefly by the deep and well-margined longitudinal furrow of the mesonotum, by the half diameter of propodeum transversally not being 1.75 times broader than its length medially, by POL:OOL not being 6:8, etc. I name this species lh honour of the distinguished proc tot rupologist Dr.Lubomir MASNER, Biosystematics Research Institute, Ottawa. Sulcomesitius nigroalatus sp. n. o . - Length 5 mm. Black, mandibles, clypeus, antennái joints 2-6, scape, all tibiae basally and apically, trochanters, tarsi, posterior side of hind tibiae, abdominal segments 3-6 yellowish red, lower side of antenna! joints 7-13 yellowish, femora and tibiae partly brownish, fore coxae reddish, posterior margins of abdominal segments 1-2 reddish translucent. Wings normal, fore wings very dark Infuscated (fig. 52), nearly black, basis, a rather narrow band outside of cells hyaline, tip of wings slightly lighter brown, pterostigma and veins dark brown. Body covered with scattered hairs, tergite 2 or 3-6 only with loose white hairs. Head elongated, 1.09 times longer than broad (58 : 53), broadened behind eyes, lateral side nearly straight and strongly converging backwards (fig. 55), eyes separated from occipital carina by a distance equalling the length of antennái joints 3+4 together, occipital carina nearly straight, with a row of distinct pits along carina (fig. 53), frons shagreened, with shallow, dense punctures, interspaces mostly narrower than punctures, frontal sulcus Indistinct; ocelli in an acute angle, posterior ocelli situated nearer to each other, distance between them half as long as that between an ocellus and an eye, POL:OOL = 6:12, outer margins of ocelli with a narrow groove; eye large, elongated, distinctly longer than broad (25 : 21), separated from mandibles by about half of their breadth (11 : 10.5); anterior margin of clypeus semicircularly protruding only medially (similar to S. thallandensis Móczár), on both sides with obtuse-angled corners, lateral margins strongly diverging, surface with a sharp and high longitudinal keel in the middle; antennae stout, only joints 1- 3 slender, flagellum thickened medially, scape as long as joints 2-5 together, 3 longer than 2, 2- 3 less than twice longer than broad, 4-12 conspicuously broader than long, length (and breadth) proportions of antennái joints 1-13 = 28(8): 9(5): 10(6): 5(7): 4(7): 6(7): 6(8): 6(8): 5(7): 5(6.5): 5(6): 4(5.5): 8(5). Pronotum 1.16 times broader in front than long medially (without collar), collar finely transversally wrinkled posteriorly and with a row of large foveae anteriorly (fig. 53), anterior corners of pronotum rather sharp, nearly rectangular (fig. 55), lateral sides slightly concave, posterior margin hardly emarginated and slightly depressed, longitudinal furrow deep and broad (fig. 55), ending before posterior margin, surface scarcely shining, shagreened with more scattered and larger punctures (fig. 53) than on head. Mesonotum shagreened, weakly shining with scattered small punctures, notaulices very deep and sharply margined, parapsidal furrows shallower, longitudinal furrow sharp margined only in distal third (fig. 55) as deep as notaulices. Transversal furrow between mesonotum and scutellum deep and with a pair of deep pits laterally.Scutellum similar to mesonotum, with some larger punctures posteriorly, basal sulcus absent. Propodeum as long as half breadth (before spines) (24 : 24) (fig. 54), lateral sides parallel anteriorly and gradually divergent posteriorly, all carinae and areas present, subVateral area with dense and fine, lateral one with sparse but more distinct transverse wrinkles, lateral spines very acute especially viewed from above (fig. 54), from the side very slightly obtuser, spines rather long, slightly shorter than two-thirds length of propodeum, latter 1.71 times longer than spine (24 : 14).Lateral side of propodeum finely sculptured, moderately shining above coxae, wrinkled towards posterior and upper margins, along posterior margin with one and along upper margin with two distinct parallel carinae, which after fusing penetrating Into spine. Episternum nearly similarly sculptured as head with a broad deepening transversally. Abdominal tergite 1 nearly unpunctured, smooth, polished only with very fine punctures especially laterally (fig. 56), tergite 2 with distinct and scattered punctures proximally, punctures more scattered medially before the two nearly triangular posterior polished areas (fig. 57), punctures gradually becoming extremely dense and deep laterally (fig. 56), interspaces here always smaller than punctures, posterior margin finely alutaceous, tergites 3-6 broadly semicircularly impressed in the middle. Sternite 2 with very deep and dense punctures, interspaces medially as large as punctures, laterally smaller. - o. - Unknown. Holotype: o. : "Sri Lanka: Kan.Dist. This species closely related to S. thallandensis Móczár. 1977 (reported from Thailand),though
