S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 44/1. (Budapest, 1983)
Black, apex of antennae, palpi and tarsi dark piceous, head with two indistinct dark red spots, which often confluent with each other. Head strongly thickened, with small slightly prominent eyes, frontal furrows wide and flat, with transverse wrinkles, front densely punctate. Antennae rather stout, reaching to basal third of elytra, from segment 2 evidently depressed (segments 2-4, depressed basally), first segment with 2 setae from above, segment 2 with 1 seta from below, segment 3 with 5-7 setae apically. Penultimate segment of labial palpi with 4 setae, submentum with 4 setae. Mentum tooth short and very wide, convex, widely emarginate and depressed at the middle, sometimes with two small supplement teeth, forming flat tubercules inwards to main teeth. Pronotum (fig. 1) rather convex, 1.45-1.68 times as wide as head, 1.61-1.91 times as wide as long, rather strongly rounded at sides and sinuated before rectangular or slightly acute hind angles; lateral sides widely flattened and reflexed, lateral margins forming in apical half round and thick carina, median line strong, but not extending margins; transverse impressions deep, basal foveae short and oblique; basal area and lateral sides dense and rather coarse punctate, disk of pronotum covered by a fine net of wrinkles and microscopic punctures, epipleure of pronotum at the hind margin near hind angles with deep and narrow impression. Elytra oblong oval, rather flat, 1.09-1.31 times as wide as pronotum, 1.51-1.70 times as long as wide, widest in apical third. Basal border nearly straight, forming with lateral one, which in basal half evidently widened and reflexed, a very obtuse angle, or confluent with lateral border arcuate. Striae rather deep, smooth to distincly punctate, intervals fairly convex, apical carina strongly reduced; interval 3 without setiferous pores, or with 1-2 small pores apically, scutellar pores present, more rarely absent. Prosternai process bordered, lateral sides of pronotum fine and sparsely punctate, lateral sides of mesosternum, metasternu m and first abdominal segment with coarser punctures. Base of hind coxae and sternits 3-5 unisetose, anal sternit in male with 2, in female with 4 setae on hind margin. Legs rather stout, tarsi evidently depressed dorso-ventrally, segment 4 of hind tarsi hardly produced from below, fore tarsi of male weakly dilated. Microsculpture rather coarse, isodiametric on head, on pronotum consisting of narrow transverse meshes, on elytra meshes wider. Aedeagus (figs 31-38) stout, with short and wide apical lamella. Length 14.4-17.3 mm. Width 5.4-6.8 mm. Material. Southern Georgia, Supsa river, 22.VI. 1958, leg.: V. KURNAKOV, 1 ex. (ZIL); Anatolia or., Yalnizqam-Pass siidl. Artvin, 2700 m, 20.VIII. 1966, leg. W. Lectotype, cf (HNHM) of N. hyantis , designated here, bears labels: "Tschoroch siidl v.Batum", "Hyantis Rttr. type". All characters completely correspond with N. fischeri Fald., N. heinzi Jedl., N. anatolica Jedl. and N. soganlica Jedl. belong to this species. I have not seen the type of N. soganlica Jedl., but according to the description it is a juvenile specimen of N. fischeri . All characters which were used by Jedlicka for separation of his species (punctures of striae and lateral sides of pronotum, form of hind angles of pronotum etc.) do not exceed the range of variability of N. fischeri Fald.
