N. adjarica group Nebria (Alpaeus) adjarica sp.n., fig. 10 Body dark brown, shiny, disk of pronotum infuscated, head with wide indistinct dark red frontal spot, antennae, palpi, tibiae and tarsi pale brown. Head strongly thickened, eyes small and flat, frontal furrows very short and shallow, situated near eyes, surface of head smooth, shiny, with sparse faint transverse wrinkles. Antennae in female extending basal third of elytra, their segment 1 with 1 seta, in length equal to segment 3, segment 2 with 1-2 setae from below, segment 3 with 6-8 setae apically. Penultimate segment of labial palpi with 4 setae, submentum with widely interrupted row of 6 setae. Pronotum (fig. 79) convex, faintly cordiform, 1.56 times as wide as head, 1.52 times as wide as long, at sides slightly rounded and sinuated before acute prominent outside hind angles, apical angles short and sharp, rounded at apex. Median line and transverse impressions deep, lateral reflexions in apical half narrow, backwards evidentely widened; basal foveae very small and narrow, flat area before hind angles strongly restricted at sides by well-developed postangular carina; basal area, lateral and apical sides rather sparse and faint punctate. Elytra elongate ovate, convex, with prominent shoulders, 1.20 times as wide as pronotum, 1.57 times as long as wide, widest at middle; basal border hardly curved, forming with lateral one almost right angle, shoulders with short vertical carina, forming small teeth. Striae rather deep, with trace of punctures, intervals convex, interval 3 with 5-6 small setiferous pores; scutellar pores present, apical carina very faint. Lateral sides of prosternum with very small and sparse punctures, lateral sides of mesosternum and metasternum punctate more coarsely and densely. Metaepisterna 1.3 times as long as wide. Base of hind coxae and sternits 3-5 unisetose, anal sternit in female with 4 setae on hind margin. Segment 4 of hind tarsi not extending from below. Microsculpture on front extraordinarily faint, consisting of very short transverse meshes, on vertex much coarser, isodiametric; on disk of pronotum microsculpture consisting of very short transverse meshes, on elytra fainter, consisting of very dense and long transverse meshes. Length 9.4 mm. Width 3.8 mm. Holotype, o (ZIL): Karskaya oblast (NE Turkey), western slope of Adjarskij ridge (from M. Sanisli to Pass), 16.VII. 1902, leg. K. SATUNIN. This characteristic species has no close relations among the Caucasian Nebria and occupies an isolated taxonomical position. 4. N. schlegelmilchi group The species of this group inhabit Transcaucasus and Turkey. They are quite well restricted morphologically from the other Alpaeus . First segment of antennae with 2 setae, the second segment with 2-3 setae. Penultimate segment of labial palpi with 4 (very rarely with 3) setae. Sub-
