First tergite subparallel-sided and narrowing only at its distal third, rl and cuqul forming a rather arched vein. Propodeum rugose-rugulose, laterally sculpture weakening. - Distribution: Azerbaidzhan (USSR) and Hungary. New to the fauna of Hungary. Localities: Debrecen, Pallagpuszta, 1 £. The obscurus-group Apanteles lenea Nixon, 1976 - Very similar to A . obscurus (Nees), some practice is needed to distinguish the two species: A . obscurus (Nees) A . lenea Nixon 1. The ater-group A panteles brunnistigma Abdinbekova, 1969 (= sotades Nixon, 1976) - Among the European species nearest to A. carpatus (Say), the two species differ mainly by the following features: A . carpatus (Say) A . brunnistigma Abdinb. 1. Antenna! joints 15-17 cubic. 1. Antennái joints 15-17 1.2-1.3 times as long as broad . 2. Stigma short and wide, 2-2.1 times 2. Hind corner of propodeum not projecting. 4. rl more or less, though distinctly, 4. rl at most slightly longer than cuqul. longer than cuqul. 5. Tegula and hind femur reddish yellow. 5. Tegula and hind femur black. Distribution: Up to now the species was known only from Azerbaidzhan. After examining a paratype of this species, kindly lent by V.l. TOBIAS (Leningrad), I could establish Its senior synonymy with A . sotades Nixon, 1976, a paratype of the latter species was kindly loaned by T. HUDDLESTON (London). Supposedly widely distributed in the Western Palaearctic Region, now we know it from Azerbaidzhan in the USSR, Italy and England; new to the fauna of Hungary. Localities: Ágasegyháza, 1 jj>.
