FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLI (XXXIII). 1. 1980 p. 61-66 \ Observations on the larvae and imagoes of some Allygus species (Homoptera) By A. M. HEGAB, A. OROSZ and G. ÍENSER (Received December 1, 1979) Abstract: Authors established that Allygus abbreviatus Lethierry, A. atomarius Fabricius, A. roodestus Scott and A. mayri Kirschbaum, have a single generation per year in Hungary. The larvae of A. abbreviatus, A. atomarius , and A. mayr i have been reared and described on herbaceous plants. The adults occur both on herbaceous annuals at the grass-level and on woody perennials at the canopy-level. A key to larvae is also presented. In investigating mycoplasm-vectors damaging fruit-trees, specimens' of Allygus species were found in orchards on several occasions. Since mycoplasma transmitters are known among taxonomic relatives of the genus', it was reasonable to study the life-history of the species. No detailed data on the life-history, nor description of larvae are known in the literature. Regular collections were made at three localities. At Budapest-Budatétény, a lighttrap was installed situated on a hill-side facing south and operated with a 100 W incandescent bulb in 1974, 1975 and 1977. At the same locality, sweep-net collections were made bothat grass- and canopy-levels of almond and elm-trees, in 1977, 1978 and 1979. At Budaörs-Kamaraerdő., again the sweep-net method was applied both at grass-level and in the canopies of apple-, apricot-, cherry- and peach-trees, in 1977 and 1978. Sweeping has been usually performed from the middle of May till mid-September or October. At each occasion, 200 sweepnet strokes were made at grass- and canopy-levels, respectively, during the early morning hours. The larvae were collected in the grass-level by sweep-net. Afterwards they were separated according to external morphological characters. Some of the larvae were preserved in 70% ethyl alcohol, others were reared in petri-dishes on celery leaves under laboratory conditions. In determining the adults the works of RIBAUT (1952), DLABOLA (1954) and EMELJANOV (1964) were used. In the light-trap the following four species: Allygus atomarius Fabricius, A. ab breviatus Lethierry, A. modestus Scott and A. mayri Kirschbaum were found. Specimens of A. atomarius , A. mayri and A. modestus were regularly in the lighttrap, at Budapest-Budatétény, throughout 3 years. There was no substantial difference noted among the flight-periods of the species. Adults of the three species began flight at the beginning of June, the peak was reached at the end of July and in early August, and still occurred till mid-October. These observations are in good accordance with the results of the (il
