Rettenmeyer (Acari: Acaroidea). I. By S. MAHUNKA (Received August 18, 1977) Abstract: The results of an examination of mites belonging to the superfamilies of Acaroidea and Anoetoidea co-existing with Dorylinae ants collected in North, Central and South Am erica by Dr. C.W. RETTENMEYER and his collaborators. The description of 20 new species are given. For two species a new genus each (Pinogly- phus gen. n. and Conglanoetus gen. n. ) described, the former being also the typegenus of a new family. The myrmecophilous Tarsonemid mites living with Dorylinae ants collected by Dr. C. W. RETTENMEYER and his collaborators have been treated in two recent papers (MAHUNKA, 1977, 1978). This paper gives the results of my examination carried out on Acarid material belonging into two superfamilies: Acaridoidea and Anoetoidea. The description of 20 new species, two new genera and one new family foUows. Herewith I should like to express my most sincere gratitude to Dr. C.W. RETTENMEYER and his collaborators for giving me the opportunity to examine their material. List of localities No. 2721: Panama, Canal Zone, Barro Colorado, 11. III. 1963, ex Eciton burchelli, leg.
