Habitus: Disregarding propodosoma, shape ellipsoid in outline. Propodosoma with large foveolae, hysterosoma with rows of punctures, intermediate surface with creases. Dorsal side (Fig. 1): Propodosoma in front emarginate, on either side with a coniform process; inner pair of hairs shorter than outer mates, both much thickened emitting 6-8 lateral branches. Hysterosoma with hair C2 long and thin, reaching distal margin of body; 5 pairs similar to those of propodosoma but larger, while 5 pairs near body margin thin and simple. Thickened seta concentricaUy arranged. Ventral side (Fig. 2): Palpi of gnathosoma (Fig. 3) long, infracapitulum small. Apodemes developed, characteristic for genus, forming a closed mesh. Epimeres 1 and 3 with one sucking disc each. Beside genital pore double discs perceptible. Adhering plate removed from body end, behind it a long chitinized formation apparent. Sucking disc Dg situated in front of D 2 . Legs: There is a great difference in length between hairs 1' ' and 1' of genu and tibia of legs I and II (Figs. 4, 7). Claws of both legs extraordinarily elongated, beside them several lanceolate hairs present. Legs III and IV (Figs. 5, 8) also carry several lanceolate hairs . Material examined: Holotypus: No. 3202: Costa Rica; 5 ex. paratypes from the same locality; 19 ex. paratypes: No. 3668: Ecuador. Holotypus and 8 paratypes: USNM*; 12 paratypes (198-PAa-b-77): HNHM*; 2 paratypes: CR*; 2 paratypes: MHNG*. Remarks: Owing to its unique dorsal hairs the new species may readily be separated from all related congeners. USNM - U.S. National Museum, Washington. HNHM - Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. CR - Coll. Rettenmeyer. MHNG - Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle, Genève.
