MAHUNKA (Received 31 December, 1973) ABSTRACT: Discussion of Scutacarid (Tarsonemida) species, collected by Dr . T. A. WOOD, from Australia. Description of Imparipes woodi sp. nov. and Im­paripes australiensis sp. nov. Dr. T. G. WOOD, Glen Osmond, Australia, collected some soil samples in the Mt. Kosciusko Range; the samples proved to be very rich in various mite species . They contained also some Scutacarid species, discussed below. Imparipes australiensis sp. nov. Dimensions: length: 205-215^, width: 145-158 yd . Habitus: Relatively narrow, roughly elliptical. Surface hardly discernibly punctate. Dorsal side (Fig. 1: A): Clypeus and its margins narrow; margins with an arcuate trans­verse lath. Clypeal hairs thin, about equal in length, only slightly shorter that those in inner row of opisthosoma; hair e-^ longest (70 f^), d^^> fi, hair e£ considerably longer than Î2- Setae of segment H short, the longest and thickest hair being h^. Ventral side (Fig. 1: B): Anterior sternal plate with hairs la and lb incrassate, elon­gately ciliated, hair 2b also thick, ensiform, smooth, hair 2a thin, hardly ciliate. Hairs 4a originating before, und much shorter than, hair 4b on posterior sternal plate.
