Legs: Tibiotarsus of leg I (Fig. 1:C) with a minute, narrow claw. Solenidion ^ 1 much larger than all others. Tarsus and pretarsus of leg IV (Fig. 1:D) slightly shortened, shorter than hair ldi' Examined material: Holotype: Alpine herbfiel (Poa caespitosa - Celmisia longifolia) 6500 ft., near Seamen's Hut, Mt. Kosciusko. N. S. W. 19. 12. 1966; 4 ex. Paratypes: data as for the holotype; - 2 ex. Paratype: ditto, 10. 11. 1967; - 2 ex. Paratype: Dry sclerophill forest (Eucalyptus pauciflora - E. dalrymplena, 4230 ft., near Sawpit, Mt. Kosciusko, N. S. W. 16. 5. 1966. Holotype and 4 Paratypes are deposited in the Collection of the Entomology Division C. S. I. R. O. , 4 Paratypes under the serial numbers (T - 1633-74) in the Collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Remarks: The new species is characterized by the thin and long ventral hairs, the short hairs of segment H displaying great dissimilarities in length between each other, and the special, thin, hardly curved claw of leg I. This combination of features distinguish the new species from all known congeners. Imparipes woodi sp. nov. Dimensions: Length: 224-231 width: 165-187/c. Habitus. - Wide, nearly circular. Aside from rugolosity of clypeal margin, body smooth . Dorsal side (Fig. 2: A). - Clypeus and its margiswide; their hairs about equal in lenth, hairs ci originating anterior to hairs C2. Hairs di (71 yt ), e^ (103 yt ), and fi (66 fr) long, thin, hairs e2 (49 /t) and especially hair Î2 (36 fr ) considerably shorter. Segment H with 3 pairs of setae, h\ slightly thicker than the other two, elongately ciliated, seta h.2 shorter than I13 . Ventral side (Fig. 2: B): Anterior sternal plate with weU developed apodemes, especially apodeme 2; its hairs la and lb more robustly ciliated than the others, 2b ensiform, completely smooth. Posterior sternal plate with apodeme 4 very weakly developed, short. Hair 3b considerably longer than hair 3a and hair 3c; among those of epimere 4 hair 4c considerably longer than the other two; hair 4a emitted far anterior to hair 4b, and even this latter not approaching posterior margin of body. Legs: - Tibiotarsus of leg 1 (Fig. 2:C) with a relatively small claw on a short stalk. Solenidium ^1 much longer than the others. Tarsus and pretarsus of leg IV (Fig. 2:D) equally long, hair dF is unusually long, hair ld^ of tarsus reduced to a minute hairlet. Examined material: Holotype: Alpine herbfield (Poa caespitosa - Celmisia longifolia), 6200 ft., near Snowy River, Mt. Kociusko, N. S. W. 20. 4. 1967, 4 ex. Paratype: data as for Holotype. Holotype and 1 Paratype are deposited in the Collection of the Entomology Division C.S.I.R.O., 3 Paratypes under the serial numbers (T-1634-74) in the Hungarian Natural History Museum . Remarks. - The new species is principally characterizable by the proportions of the dorsal hairs, especially that of the incrassate h^ to the other hairs, as well as the difference between the hairs ei and fi , and the characteristical, slightly sigmoid form of the latter, unknown in the heretofore described species.
