2. Subfamily: Apataniinae Tibial spurs: 1, 2, 4. On fore wing subcosta not directly joining costa T but .decurrent as a cross-vein situated between radial vein and costa. Discoidal cell generally long, approximately as long, or somewhat longer than, basal part of lateral branch of radial vein. - A single genus known from Europe. — Discoidal cell of fore wing relatively long, undulated. First and second endforks developed (Fig. 3). Construction of hind wing somewhat unusual (Fig. 4); apex not attenuating, slightly truncate discoidal cell open. - Type-species: wallengreni MAG LACHLAN, 1871 (Apatelia). - European species: auricula FORSSLUND, 1930 (Finland, Sweden and Ireland), carpathica SCHMID, 1954 (Poland), cimbrica NIELSEN, 1950 (Apatidea) penmark, Sweden), cypria TJEDER, 1952 (Cyprus), eatonianaM ACLACHLAN, 1880 (France), fimbriata PICTET, 1834 (Phyganea) (Europe), helvetica CURTIS, 1835 (Tinodes) (Switzerland), hispida FORSSLUND, 1940 (Apatelia) (Scandinavia), intermedia NIELSEN, 1950 (Apatidea) penmark), majuscula MACLACHLAN, 1872 (North Europe), meridiana MACLACHLAN, 1880 (from France to Yugoslavia), muliebris_ MACLACHLAN, 1866 (England, Switzerland, Czeskoslovakia, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden), stigmatella ZETTERSTEDT, 1840 (Phyganea) (North Europe, Siberia, Colorado), stylata NAVÁS, 1916 (Iberian Peninsula), sub tili s MARTYNOV, 1909 (Caucasus), wallengreni M ACLACHLAN, 1871 (Apatelia) (Norh, Central and west Europe), zonella ULMER, 1932 (North Europe, Siberia, Japan). Apatania WALLENGREN, 1886 3. Subfamily: Drusinae Tibial spurs: 0-1, 2-3, 2-3. Fore wings relatively narrow, those of males of Anomalopterygella Fischer might be even rudimentary. Hind wings proportionated, but those of females of Anomapolterygella FISCHER might be even rudimentary. Hind wings proportionated, but those of females of Anomalopterygella FISCHER extremely shortened. Endforks showing different shapes, their identification requiring attention. - All genera of the subfamily represented in Europe. 1 (2) Hind wing short and narrow, narrower than fore wing. Fore wing of male attenuated, its venation simple, without cross-veins, and therefore also discoidal cell absent (Fig. 5). In hind wings some longitudinal veins eventually present; apex of membrane attenuated, but its end rounded (Fig. 6). Fore and hind wings of female characteristic, but hind wing reaching at most anastomosis of fore wing (Figs. 7, 8). - Type-species: chauviniana STEIN, 1874 (Anomalopteryx) (West and central Europe) Anomalopterygella FISCHER, 1966 2 (1) Hind wing medium or long, not significantly narrower than the usual proportions. Fore wing of male not pointed, venation normal, discoidal cell developed on both wings . Wings of female well developed, large .
