centre: the ganglion frontale situate above the pharynx, which, in the caae of insects, always situate before the brain. An interesting feature is that it may be found in the representatives of Protura up to Heteroptera. Fig. 2 shows parts found before the frontal centre while those behind it is depicted in Pig. 3c The ganglion frontale emits forward an unparied trunk running along the dorsal surface of the pharynx and between the paired muscles bundles of the musculus dilatator pharyngia which is called the nervus procurrens. This trunk contains numerous motoric nerves varying in number according to types, of which seven may be called typical /n - 46-52/. The different muscles are situated symmetrically in the cephalic region of the forgut and the oral aperture and cavity, i.e. on both sides of the alimentary canal, consequently, the symmetrical innervation is primarily effected by the ganglion frontale. The sensory nerve of nervus procurrens terminates in the environs of the oral cavity. Furthermore, the ganglion frontale emits a trunk containing five typical motoric nerves, this may not be called by a collective name for examination established that the types display great diversity. They for longer or shorter parts run or may run jointly /n - 42-46/, and as a rule innervate the pharyngeal muscles. The mate of nervus procurrens running toward the oral cavity is the nervus recurrens. The latter passes backward over the dorsal surface of the oesophagus, then below the brain it passes on to the second sympathetic cephalic centre called ganglion hypocerebrale /Fig.3/c The hypocerebral centre Is situate behind the brain and forms an untypifiable system. The sympathetic parts behind the brain - postcerebralis shown in Figc 3 only schematically, for easy survey, for they may not be included in any type. The postcerebralis sympathiCU3 system of insects may belong to five types /A - E-type/ within this nine groups of forms may be distinguished /the types are characterized below/. The ganglion hypocerebrale emits above the brain four typical motoric nerves /n - 53-56/, which run into above the brain, in rare cases in the front of the brain where they innervate the different muscles of the
