33. Nkawkaw: Eastern region N. 6.38, W. 0.46, Alt.: 800 ft (244 m). Semideciduous forest zone. The Landscape is marked by the vertical rocks of the scarp towering behind the town. The vegetation is similar to that around Bunsu, with high forests in the valleys mostly planted with cocoa. 34. Nyankpala: Northern region N. 9.25, W. 1.00, Alt.: 600 ft (183 m) . Northern woody savanna zone. The Crops Research Institute has its main station for the savanna zone at Nyankpala. The low trees of the savanna are more scattered here than in the Damongo area. Collections have been made on the experimental fields and a few nettings on the savanna. 35. Nyinahin range: Ashanti region N. 6.53, W. 2.06, Alt.: 1,200-2,000 ft (365-600 m) . Semideciduous forest zone. On some scarps in the Ashanti region there are small edaphic savanna areas isolated on the top of mountains. The Nyinahin edaphic savanna stretch occupies only a few acres. The dense high forest of the reserve becomes lower and more bushy around the open area which is covered by tussocky vegetation. The area is about 6 miles north of Nyinahin village . 36. Ofinso: Ashanti region N. 6.54, W. 1.39, Alt.: 850 ft (259 m) . Semideciduous forest zone. The locality is about 17 miles (27 km) from Kumasi on the Wenchi road. The vegetation is the typical high forest planted with cocoa. The collections have been made mainly on fallen trees.
