brook Tapolca. Thus, the surroundings of this brook became the odonatologically most researched part of Hungary. Author now publishes tho flight-period-graph of seme species ( Lestes macrostigma , L. viridis viridis , Coenagrion scitulum , Erythromma najas , Sympetrum depressiuscuiuro , S . fonscolombei fonscolombei , S. pedemontanum pedemontanum ). These graphs are missing in STEINMANH's work (1959a) because at that time said author had no sufficient data at this disposal concerning the above mentioned species but on hand of our present informations the absence of these can be made good . The curiosity of the explored region is that both mediterrain ( Lestes macrostigma , Coenagrion scitulum , Sympetrum fonscolombei fonscolombei ) and montane ( Sympetrum danae , S . pedemontanum pedemontanum ) species as well as species of mointains of medium hight ( Lestes viridis viridis , Agrion virgo virgo ) and such originating from the south ( Crthetrum albistylum albistylum , Sympetrum depressiusculum ) may be found in this flat-land province. Author describes his observations in connection with some interesting species and outlines their oecological 1iving-condit ions . The Sympetrumspecies rather resemble to each other as far as their morphology is concerned, therefore, in many cases it is difficult to separate them because the traditional keys countain marks which vary within species (e.g. colouring of body and wings, colour of pterostigma, ect.). This is why author deemed it necessary to compile a new key concerning the Kiddle-European 8pecie8 of genera Sympetrum HEWM. The différenciation of species is based on the genitalia mainly. When differenciáting the males the deciding factor ia the shape of the branches of hamulua posterior. In view of the latter having had no scientific terminus technicus so far, author gives these the name: ramus exterr.ua (outer branch) and ramus internus (inner branch) (see Pig.8).
